My Girlfriend got this in her drink, and awoke the next day naked in her hostal room with the guy who gave her it sleeping in her bed whilst she was in his. She had no idea about what happened, but could remember him trying to have sex with her in the shower. She never had an an experience like this before, and all the people who saw her that night said she acted completely normal. This is what this drug does, you can't tell people are on it, it's like they are in an hypnotised state and will do anything one suggests to them, and even worse, a lot of people can die from it. My girlfriend wasn't even sure if they even had sex, but got her self checked anyway.

It makes me sick to my stomach that people do this, and to image this happened to my girlfriend. I'm sure any other guy would feel awful.

So please, where ever you know this is being sold, put a stop to it and please spread awareness.

Firstly i'm sorry about your girlfriend, but this is not the answer. There are many other drugs a criminal can use, and it's all down to peoples intentions. Datura talk is not really allowed here either. Like most things in life it can be used for good or bad.

I think the important point is when out, to always look after your drinks, and always stay with friends you know and trust. It's a big wild world out there, and we all need to be streetwise.

Looking into it now, I see the difference between GHB and Scapolomine.

Christian, I think this is the least I can do, spreading the awareness. Criminals might use something else, but then I think that needs to be known about too. I think where ever there are people making negatives in the world, I believe there needs to be people throwing out what positives they can. I can't believe this drug is out there, it's unbelievable. All the stories I've heard about how this can be used. Robbing, rape, killing, making drug mules out of people, the list is endless. All it takes is a tiny bit in a drink, for you to catch a bit in the air. If theres any drug I believe should be illegal, it's this.

Yes it's not took the words out my mouth. I remember seeing a documentary of people in Colombia rubbing datura flowers or something in people's faces then robbing them.

I've also seen ghb called a date rape drug, also heard it called liquid ecstasy, I tried it when I was younger and didn't seem to be either of these things, wasn't nice anyway. A friend told me you were supposed to take it on the peak of MDMA something that's probably asking for an overdose. River Phoenix died from it apparently, dangerous stuff as is datura (scopolamines in datura) but they're two different things.

Yes Space, but spreading awareness really means, watch your drinks, be careful of your company. Honestly this is OLD news, not something new, and there are many powerful substances that can be used anyhow. In England some girls complained about this and they found that the girls were just drinking too much alcohol.

It all comes down to good parenting, and taking personal responsability, and being careful who you mix with. People are getting 'done over' in many ways every day. I hope your girlfriend is ok, and can move on from this.

It should be common sense to watch your drinks, this sort of awareness is amongst most I think, however the mojarity surely can't be aware of just how this drug works, and how easy it is for someone to do this to someone.

What I wasn't sure about is whether or not vendors really knew about this. I thought I knew a fair bit, and had heard of date-rape drugs before however when I really looked into this it surprised me. So I'm sure it would surprise many others.


I do appreciate your input, and thanks for your concern. My girlfriend is ok. However now that she knows about the potential drugs really have, she will be very cautious in future. I've managed to swallow the thought of some guy trying to have sex with her, however it took some extensive meditation and awkward mental re-adjustment.

I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend. I hope she's mentally OK and can come at peace with what happened without too much long term negative effects. I also hope you can give it a place.

While I understand that you wish to spread awareness, banning or making it impossible to purchase these substances will not make the problem go away. Because if there is a demand for substances like these there will be a supply from them. Legal or illegal.

Banning their sale won't make the problem go away either. Instead it will create a false sense of security where people believe they are safe from harm. Unfortunately it's important to be aware and distrustful of strangers. Never leave your drink unattended in a club or bar. Preferably always keep it in your hand so it's difficult to spike. And if do you leave your drink unattended or are unsure about it, consider it tainted and purchase a fresh drink.

Was she tested afterwards, or are you just assuming that what she was given was scopolamine? Where are you getting GHB from that, and what country are you in?
