This is a silly idea for a thread, but I'm noticing recently maybe up to 70-80% of the time I'll make an attempt at a reply or maybe a thread opener, then just give up, hit back and forget it ever happen'd.

I use a few forums and this is the only one where I find myself doing this. I guess it's a mixture of not being able to prepare myself for followup opposing posts, envisioning long arguements using large words I need to google and ultimately being unprepared to stand by my convictions. Then maybe it's because the subject matter never feels like it translates as it would eye to eye. Then again, it could be that this forum's a little serious for the immense silliness that is my nature from wherein I pluck my true wisdom Pleased or perhaps I just figure people wouldn't be interested in what I have to say.

But yeah... I still read here a hell of a lot, but don't post much anymore and this is why.

Am I weird or something? Wut?

edit: woohoo! Made a post!

Usually if I stop myself from making a post it's most often because I've caught myself being unfairly insulting or something of the sort.

I do it all the time Soulfood, I have always enjoyed your posts, even though you are not posting a ton, what you do post is quality.

Most of the time I abort a post because I feel it doesn't add enough to the overall community. I think my post will clutter a thread, better to leave space for elder Nexians...such as yourself. Peace keep em comin Smile

when i'm stoned i do it all the time Very happy

i'll have a lot to say in my head...but my ability to download it into language doesn't feel adequate enough once i begin typing..as if i'm more aware in that state of how limited a medium a few pixel-symbols on the internet are for conveying to others what i'm thinking (at times i also get a bit indecisive when stoned)

all of this reminds me a lot of this pic i found today...which is also a perfect description of talking about DMT

It really depends on the seriousness of the topic. And it's rare; I'm pretty good at identifying topics where I don't have a substantial contribution to make. Some of these topics may be of great interest to me but that doesn't mean I have to post there. I am not a dog, it is not a fire hydrant. So I just read and enjoy.

But I occasionally start a post, maybe even get a few paragraphs in, and realize that it adds nothing to the discussion and may even reveal the level of my ignorance. Those get aborted. Let's say it's maybe 3-5% of the posts I start.

Far more often, I'll shorten a post, clean it up, trim out the fat.

Soulfood, a little levity is a great thing and not unwelcome around here. Many of us are so serious about these subjects that we might come across sounding like we don't know how to have fun, and in reality I don't think that's the case. Honest.

I now live by a code of silence when I'm stoned, at least on forums. Very happy

I do this a lot as well. I'll get sidetracked on something and when I read it back I realize it isn't necessary and trim it out of my final post.

I know the feeling Soulfood. We all come to a point where we realize we know nothing, and our opinions seem useless and unimportant. It`s just a natural part of advancement.

I tend to do it alot. Even on a forum it's hard for me to get my ideas across alot of the time. The picture you posted UC says it all for me. I remember when I used to smoke mj all the time I could let the flood gates open and just let it all out, but not having been able to smoke as of late puts a slight hindrance on my thought flow.

I find though when im by myself driving or sitting out on a park bench (or just by myself in general), thoughts tend to just flow out and ill start repeating what im envisioning (talking to myself I guess). At those unique times, it's like Im having a direct connection to the 'other' and im a mere conduit. But when Im around people, this 'connection' ceases. I've always found it very odd. The only time my thought flow seems to be open around people is when id go on hikes. Something about 'looking foward, walking, taking in the scenary, clear mind' that opens me up. It feels very similar to at the peak of a long meditation session where my mind is extremely clear, yet the ideas just come. I wish I could do that here, some how, some way lol.

Enough rambling, peace.

I've already lost count how many times I've backed out of starting a new topic, mainly because I reread it right before I post and think "no one's gonna post a response to this", and I end up canceling it...doesn't happen as often when I post comments on other people's threads, but it does happen, can't exactly estimate what percentage of posts end up getting cancelled but it's a decent amount... don't be so hard on yourself about it, sure you may find your thoughts silly at times, but for me that's normal most days.

who cares if you're weird, I know I'm weird, and sometimes I think I thrive in my weirdness Razz

I do it probably 50% to 70% of my posts. Mostly because my main language isn't English and I cant find the right words to say or the form of the sentence is all screwed up (when translating from Finnish to English you kinda have to start from the last word and go all backwardsy, it can get reeeally confusing at times)

What I've noticed though is that when I've had few cold ones my vocabulary sparks up tenfold Very happy Also today I had the chance to talk to a British gent and we had quite a lengthy conversation, so now all my words flow out nice and fluently Smile

But yeah, you're not the only one Soulfood Smile

Laughing That cracked me up.

I do it all the time personally... I almost did it with this post. I just feel like I don't have a lot to contribute lately and I've also been rather cranky. So I'm just taking some time to work on myself and get to a better place, physically and mentally.

most of my aborted ones were golden in my head.. didn't survive the transition into text.

sometimes its because i realize the post was unnecessary, but more often its just difficult to fully communicate my thoughts

I sometimes abort a post but usually I don't even start one Razz
I'm not too good at putting my thoughts into words. Especially in english. It's not my first language.

And my thoughts are not too coherent. More like a bounce of scattered mess that only I know how to navigate and make connections.
I'd like to contribute here more but feel easily misunderstood or something. That's to say when I really want do dive into a subject. That's also why my posts are usually only a few lines.

And I'm also a bit too lazy to go deeper into things Razz

I disagree with this thread, goddamn you soulfood Razz You need more control over your emotional and biochemical responses. You need to practice acclimation to assuage such inimical presentiment. Postulate some perception before you consign your communique at supplementary occurences.

Only joking Big grin I do the same sometimes. I personally enjoy every contribution you make, always puts a smile on my face.

Peace

By and large, the majority of members here for whom English is a second language, use it better than most of my fellow Americans. Not exaggerating.

I haven't seen you post too much in a bit (I'm guessing probably cause of that pharma incident), but I recall when I joined the Nexus looking up to your posts and thinking they were often insightful Thumbs up Cool

Cheers mate Smile

Well I did take a little break after that night of pharma but not for long actually. And I thought I would never touch this stuff again Razz
But I've been lurking here all the time.
Haven't done pharma since but just a little shrooms and low doses of DMT. And next weekend I will go with 3 good friends to a summerhouse somewhere to do a good trip of shrooms Smile And I'll bring my changa Smile I feel I really need that. Been very lethargic and apathetic lately. Kind of depressed. Need to kickstart my head again. And nothing does that better than a good trip somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Smile
