Hey guys,

I know there have been numerous topics discussing the machine - shapes, sizes, techniques, etc..

That being said, I do not mean to repeat any of these. I have thoroughly searched through all of the search results. I have used the same machine since my first steps in hyperspace. It is a machine made out of a hennessy bottle, as pictured here:
https://mycotopia.net/fo...mt-pipe-83484machine.jpg

I've played around with techniques some - with mostly good results. However, my last experience was...harsh. Tasted horrible - not that it usually tastes good, but it was different. I was also unable to get a large enough dose to break through...couldn't find the sweet spot, and just kept hitting it. In my state I might have accidentally lit the steel wool a little - hence the harshness and taste. Aside from my concerns about breathing in steel wool vapors, I was mostly curious as to what changed since my last experience.

I'd say i've used it about 15 times total. There is a pretty good amount of crystallized spice, and dark black residue on the inside of the glass.

I'm wondering if I should replace the steel wool, or make an entirely new machine? It seems wasteful to make a new one as there is the aforementioned crystallized spice - but it would be worth it if it meant breaking through and not inhaling steel wool.

Would love some advice from anyone with machine experience.

Thanks! Hope this finds you all well.

hey

Take steel wool out, and rinse bottle with Naptha until its clean, then either freeze precip naptha or let it evaporate to retrieve excess spice, two birds, one stone! Thumbs up

Change steel wool every 5 journeys or so i would suggest

I hope its not steel wool your using...? Steel ribbon is what you need ...the wool is too thin and easily combustable.

An example of a closeup here:

With the ribbon and clean spice it should not be harsh at all.

Also try not to smoke the spent/xtalized spice...(only after re-x)...it's not nice.Confused

Yikes!! Anything i've ever read just said highest grade steel wool, and when i was initially shown the machine for the first time it had regular steel wool.

I've never seen steel ribbon in a hardware store....will look online. Thanks Cyb. Saw the pics of your machine when you first posted them and was blown away. frickin' awesome, is what it is. Thumbs up

Loops.. the scrubbing pads for scrubbing pans usually does the trick. Just roll a little ball of it...burn it to death in a flame and wash it...job done

Thanks Cyb. I looked at a couple hardware stores and CVS today with no luck. Can't seem to find anything like that.

I've seen so many people use grade 4 steel wool...strange?

On a brighter note - washed it out with naphtha today and holy crap there was so much spice in there! If that doesn't make ones day....
