ok so recently i managed to muster up some courage and have decided that i should get a plant , however i don't want to be F****** myself over and know what i am getting into

now i've heard Terrance Mckenna in one of his interviews talking about the salvia quid experience as having "fairly dmt like hallucinations ",

now i have never smoked salvia ( i lack all courage to do so ) , so i've decided to quid yet i don't want to jump into a new direction with my psychadelic experiences

so is a quid experience anything like smoked DMT or is it something else altogether ?

also hardly there are reports of quid experiences ! could some of you pls share your quid experiences

I think they are similar: they can take you to "other" worlds and/or very deep into your consciousness. Visions are somewhat similar, but quite different at the same time, with Salvia being more organic- or nature-like. I think that Salvia visions are more "believable" than the sometimes ´unbelievably alien´ DMT visuals

- yet -

I think they are different: Salvia, when quided, is quite gentle and pushes you "there" slowly, with the care of the Mother. Smoked DMT punches you to your ego, blasts you "there", and doesn´t care much whether your seatbelts are fastened of not...

When working with oral Salvia, proper setting is also important: lying down in silent darkness (or near-darkness withsomething like a candle light), quiding for 20 minutes or so. I would suggest to start with 4-6 mid-sized leafs, and working your dose up slowly.

True, it was an mild experience to me, back when I had some plants i chewed some leaves and managed to keep them in my mouth for about 20 minutes, it tasted horrible bitter. The effects how ever were very mild. Calming with very mild visual changes. I did it never again, because of the taste.

Working with the plants was fun, their stems are funny looking..

I always trip solo with quided Salvia. It is OK for me, because I find oral Salvia to quite managable in reasonable doses. However, experienced users told me that group Salvia chewing can also be a very special experience.

"The taste", IMHO, is an indivisible apect of working with entheogens. I cannot think of any entheogen that wouldn´t cause nausea, and/or didn´t taste... how to put it... not always pleasantly.

Shrooms taste quite okay, never gave me nausea too Smile

But I suppose one gets used to the taste of salva quid, like people get used to chewing kath or betelnut..

Never smoked DMT, so I can't comment there, but in comparing quidded Salvia to smoked Salvia (which, from what I understand, is at least somewhat comparable to smoked DMT in intensity), it is an entirely different beast. Much more shroom-like IMO. That's not to say you're not in the same territory as smoked Salvia, I'd just say it's like traveling by gondola rather than by some souped-up jetski from hell. Wink

For me, smoking strips me of any ability to cope with or direct with what's being experienced, so that, if it's going bad, there's no chance I'll be able to guide it somewhere more positive. On the other hand, quidding is much more gentle and you're able to come out of it if it becomes uncomfortable, at least so it seems to me so far.

I would agree with Beelzebozo here. Quidding is much more gentle, and in terms of the "wow" factor, smoked Salvia is closer in intensity to smoked DMT. The similarities between the routes of administration are similar, but like was said, they are two different beasts. Salvia can be somewhat dark and uninviting, whereas DMT is much less so. Not to say that Salvia can't be pleasant, I can personally attest to the fact that it can be a very warm and welcoming experience. But DMT has a friendlier vibe about it for the most part.

its nothing like smoked DMT, smoked salvia however could be compared in degree of intensity of confusion, terror, or bliss (but ive never experienced a blissful state smoking salvia comparable to DMT.)

You are much better off getting used to this plant by quidding, you can NEVER go wrong with getting a salvia plant Smile

I quid a lot, but not at high doses. I like to chew 2-4 leaves at a time, in the morning and afternoon, and I don't 'keep quidding' after my first mouthful. This gives me mild 'dissociative' like salvia effects. I call it microdosing in a way, IMO, its a VERY useful tool, for changing certain habits.

Now if you continue your quidding session, Usually by spitting out the old and chewing another bunch of leaves every 20 minutes or so. The effects can really start to build where things get really intense. (This was probably the state Mckenna was quoting.)

I love quidding, If you can get used to the bitter taste, (not bad really) i am sure you will love it too.

Nothing to be ashamed of, we all experience fear, and Salvia is a pretty scary plant to work with Smile

Salvia and DMT are two different beasts. Salvia is earthy/organic, murky, dark, cartoony, and very confusing. DMT is more alien, fractal, clear and lightbased in its visions. I coined the word Revamping on DMT. I made that word up in a DMT trip to explain the feeling. Its like the amp on life has been turned up to max. Salvia is more like youre being pulled around and contorting in your spirit body. Your thoughts go somewhere else beyond on either. I consider DMT more heavenly. They can both take you thru a trip thru hell. I love them both. Together is my favorite mix of any drug combination

Also you should look into Salvia Leaf. Its like $10 an ounce. If you smoke it it will give you very mild effects. Less than that of a smoked extract but still giving you an idea of what youre in for.
