If i where to do 3x3 washes of Ayahuasca materials and combine the liquid in a single container, then added the liquid back into the pan with Ayahuasca material to reduce water would I possibly lose/gain potency?

Btw, what's the use of vinegar when cooking?

EDIT; just another question i really want to ask:

What is the ideal cooking temperatures or conditions to succesfully brew wanted goodies out of the material?

You certainly woldnt loose potency but It really wouldn't serve a purpose. The reason for 3x3 washes is because the water becomes fully saturated with the alkaloids and can no longer hold any more. So adding the washes back to the vine would not do much. If you'd like to do a 4th wash to squeeze every last drop out of the vine that would make more sense but its not necessary.

Vinegar acidifies the water to draw and hold more alkaloids.

You could also freeze your used vine overnight and do a final boil. This in theory bursts the cells open in the vine making more alkaloids available. Again its just extra effort and isnt needed for a potent brew but I like to do this if not in any hurry. I enjoy brewing ayahuasca its very relaxing for me.

adding vinegar does not do anything other than make a discusting brew in my experience..however I dont brew with tap water and never have so I dunno what tap water is like.

It might help if you want to brew real fast..but I would rather brew a larger ammount and take my time and have something that does not have that discusting taste to it that vinegar adds.
Long live the unwoke.

I'm asking because my last brews weren't so potent, despite using loads of quantity. When I cooked Aya i drank alone. So i'm not sure of the reason i'm getting no effects is because of my brew or myself. I paid a visit to the church of Santo Daime so I knew i'd get good shit. >_<

I found out i'm not very prone to Ayahuasca's effects but I was surely able to experience solid psychedelic effects. They where short-lived but pretty weird. I count myself 20 minutes of hyperspatial traveling. I felt some kind of mindscape i'd like to explore. Thus, i'm making tea and this time I hope to get the goodies out , i'll care later to get my recipe right.

I can kind of see where your coming from saying that brewing Aya is relaxing for you. I myself enjoy the smell and feel content with my activities. Smile

Didn't Gibran2 do a side by side comparison a couple years ago that showed the acidified water did extract more alkaloids?

I suppose you need less water when you add vinegar which is a bad trade for the taste when you can reduce the quantity of water fairly rapidly after the brew anyway. And Aya doesn't taste too bad by itself either.

Using less water is not the reason some choose to acidify their washes. Water volume really isnt an issue when making ayahuasca.
Ayahausca taste's terrible vinegar or no vinegar.

Well, I do like the taste. I even like the way it tastes terrible. And compared to say Calea Z. it tastes like an expresso compared to urine.Razz

I wish to learn exactly why you'd use X or cook Y in order to extract tea etc. so I need to learn datas freely available on the web

Yes, but the traveler told me that longer cooks still yield more. But for shorter cooks say 3x45 minutes, vinegar is ESSENTIAL. Makes it taste more disgusting, very true.
