I can't stop thinking about my new crystals. I'll post another pic up when I wake up In the afternoon. They remind me of cotton candy or powdered sugar. They are so fluffy it's insane. Didn't know it would be that fluffy.

I'm pretty sure that lye is watched in the US. But then again I haven't really seen any true evidence, just other people saying it. I guess I'll have to do some research. I know that it got pulled from the shelves because of meth labs, in areas where it's really bad. I do know things that contain ephedrine are watched, as that's the main ingredient in crystal meth.

Lye is watched. A little Googling shows people who make soap are having issues because the police see a big order of lye and suspect a bigtime meth lab, only to find grandma with lavender fragrance instead of tweakers with red phosphorous

So what's a big order? I did some searching using various keywords and the only references I found were from this site.

Wish I'd known it was an issue, I could have used safer ordering practices like I would for questionable herbs and such. I know it's being removed from the stores but how could they possibly check up on everyone ordering from every online source? Wouldn't it be easier to just ban it?

i think more in the way that "being watched" means your name gets on a list. Much in the same way that it happens when you buy Ammonium Nitrate at feed stores. But logically it would seem difficult to track EVERY order. Even every BIG order.

Update.

So I just did pull # 3 and 4. Pull number 3 had what looks like 10% solvent loss! My measuring cups lowest measurement is 100ml so it was eyeballed but wasn't much. Also, since I did pull 4 shortly after the loss from the previous pull kept me from losing ANY solvent for pull 4.

I used the same naphtha from pull 1 & 2 and only had to add maybe 20ml to bring it back up to 200ml. So I probably only lost 10ml per 100ml for the first pulls. Which is great. I'm not concerned about solvent loss but I do want as much as I can get out of the bark so, success.

I also had a slight worry before this. It occurred to me after reading a post by endlessness that my wooden bamboo spoon that I used looked like it had varnish and that possibly the solvent dissolved it into the naphtha. After a closer inspection it seems that the other spoons, after going through the dish washer before hand also looked dull. So since ALL the spoons went through the wash before, the dullness occurred before te extraction.

But I will be doing a re-x just in case.

Will post tomorrow on pull results. Then on to pull 5 & 6.

Ok I take that back. My estimation of what 10 ml would be is most likely incorrect, it's hard to gauge. I'm probably under estimating.

So, bioassay proved to be... Very good. I am def more than pleased. But I will write more on that in the experience section.

My first time trying crystals after this tek was very, very pleasant as well. Amazing vibes.

uhg, not sure what happened. Almost nothing in pulls 3 and 4 after 24 hrs. I'm going to leave them in there another 24 hrs and see if more pops up. What kind of conditions could have caused this? Should I try to acid/base it again?

Maybe pull them out and evap off some of the naphtha and toss them in again. I dunno sucks.

Ok so im just now drying out the precip bowls prepping them for scraping. Not many snow globes and they are small. I do see a crystalline residue across the bottom, so we'll see what that turns out to be.

I've gone over my techniques and everything and I dont see where I went wrong. This will put the yield below a gram for the fluffy white stuff. I guess it could be the bark, who knows.

Ok so I guess I was worried for no reason. I came home and grabbed the two precip containers that were left drying with a fan. I brought them in and looked them over. I only saw very tiny and few crystals. Across the bottom was what I thought was frost when I set them out to dry. Well this frost was still there so I was kind of confused. As I scraped, this frost was coming up, it was fairly thick. DMT had precipitated as a frost across the bottom. Why?

So total yield for pulls 3 & 4 was 500 mg even. Thats a total of 1.1 grams for 4 pulls. Has anyone experienced this "frost" DMT precipitate? This last pull was slightly yellow and not nearly as fluffy. Not quite as yellow as my first batch of DMT though.

What I do worry about is the little black specs that I found in these two pulls. They are tiny rocks that look black. One was fairly large, like pepper from a grinder. I found a total of 8 of them. What would this be? I removed them slowly like a tweaker would do so I am sure I got them all.

Any thoughts?

I get a layer of oil/frost that globes grow out of...once dried it scrapes up into fluff powder..
I think the good stuff can come in a few forms..xtals..clear oily stuff etc.

Black bits...not sure...lye mix?? just toss em' out.

That "frost" is most likely precipitation that drags some of the oils and jungle alks present in a higher concentration in the recycled solvent. Like cyb says, it's all good. Never mind the yellow tint. If you want you can try to recrystallize it, but you can always keep the white flakes and this separated and spot the differences upon closer inspection

As for the dark specks, no idea. Any chance that bits of the mix had fallen inside of the container?

i mean there is a chance, but I was extremely careful and was staring into the pour stream every time i pulled. There was twice during the first pulls that one small crumb or two fell into the filter but nothing was able to make it around the lip of the filter.

Then they fell inside during the evaporation. You already picked them up, problem solved.

The only thing Im going to change is the filter. I am going to use a cone type that comes to a point that way it doesnt try to fold while I pour. I def recommend anyone trying this tek get the same SS pot I got with the pour lips and strainer lid, made it so easy.
