those are pretty awesome.. how did you make the holes in the salt shakers? and what did you use to seal them?

That is quite the little device there, I assume you take the top off like a normal machine? Should try to figure out how to integrate one of those $5 ceramic stones that someone else posted about earlier!

Made the holes with a glass drill bit and cut the Vase stems with a grinder and sanded with a rotary sander.

No the top stays on...
there is a pipe screen behind the hole in the cap to 'distrupt/stop' the flame (from ordinary lighter)
The distance from the hole to the scrubber is just the right amount for the heat to vape the spice (settling in a 'well/dimple' pushed into the scrubber.)

Just light and inhale and watch the milky white smoke sail smoothly through the pipe and up the stem....
It whistles as you pull too...

I thought about the stones...but this just works too well. Razz

That's awesome - probably the best looking machine I've seen. I don't want my smoking device to look tooo ghetto, and I think this is really tasteful and ingenious.

Would it be possible to get a photo of under the metal cap - so we can all see the pipe screens position?
Is that metal salt shakers cap non reactive when it burns; is it safe to burn and inhale through?
How did you make the mesh "well" - and - what is the mesh well made of?

Hats off to you cyb.

Here you go Lichen...

The screen is held in place with a drop of glue. The cap is just Tin or Aluminium, I think, and doesn't get hot enough to react.
The dimple in the scrubber...just poke a pen into it and place 20mg inside and cover it back up.
The Loading Chamber mesh is a piece of frying pan splatter protector moulded around a AA battery.
Mesh is a piece of kitchen scrubber..rolled up and burned and washed.
Actual body is a cheap (50c) vinegar bottle, like you get in a cafe. (£1 shop)
Stem is a single stem flower vase.

Nice thing about this one is you use it horizontally so you can view the vapour Wink

GVG...Pah...Confused

i wonder if one could find a similar screw on cap that can handle direct heat; torch the metal to heat the air in a similar manner to the lotus vaporizer..

i do have an empty jimi hendrix vodka bottle laying around, maybe i should try something like this and report back (after a couple test bottles to make sure i dont shatter it).

Cyb, what is the metal part on the left - the threaded cone thing, that functions as a cap?

I love the square one.

nice flat surface for it to stand up all by itself, no rolling over or wobbling. Very clever construction.
