I just received these seeds in the mail...

In the first photo the plate on the right contains Caapi seeds. I ordered 10 Cielo caapi seeds, what I got is apparently a mixture of Cielo, and white caapi and some Banisteriopsis Muricata...

I also ordered 10 Alicia Anisopetala seeds, these are the butterfly shaped seeds in the left hand plate. I have no idea what the other heart shaped seeds are.

I have asked the vendor

but haven't received a reply as of yet...So if anyone has any idea what the heart shaped seeds are and if there's any way to tell the caapi varieties apart, other than wait till they flower, I'd be very grateful...

Also, there's a fair bit of info around on how to grow Caapi, I assume Alicia Anisopetala is fairly similar, but if anyone has any experience growing this plant and would like to share, that would be great Smile

The second photo is a close up of the Caapi seeds and the third pic is of an Alicia Anisopetala seed and unknown...

Ok....The vendor got back in touch and told me that the heart shaped seeds are White Caapi...I'm surprised as they look very different from other caapi seeds that I've seen, but there you go!

Hey Zaka, I think I've seen pics of your homegrown Alicia Anisopetala on another forum, it was looking pretty good! Did you grow it from seed? If so, how long did it take to germinate? I know Caapi can take a few weeks, is it as long as that?

I live in a tropical climate, so I don't think there'll be a problem once my seedlings get going, but they took a quite a long time to get to me from Peru and I have no real idea if they're still viable or not.

On the vendors facebook page they have photos of the seeds still on the vine, the white caapi seeds are like pink flower petals...although they were brown by the time they got to me!

Irie Sniff,
Yes, I have a couple of 3yr old Alicia vines, from seed, one of which flowered & seeded earlier this year...
And how I was able to identify exactly what it was...
I got them from the same vendor, but they were labeled "Cat's Claw"...
I've had caapi seeds sprout 200days+ after sowing!!!
The Alicia are much quicker....a few weeks...should still be viable!
I'll have to find time to research the heart shaped seeds...soon!
Respect,
Z
Just took a look at their FB page, & rekkon their Alicia macrodisca might be a Hiraea sp.
Also found this about Callaeum; "Uses: Callaeum antifebrile is reported to have hallucinogenic properties and to be useful as a febrifuge, and its leaves and stem are used in the treatment of internal and external sores"
But I'll have to transfer this info to the vines thread....at some point?
Still working on the heart seeds!!

Hey Zaka,

I hope my Caapis sprout in less than 200 days!

The heart shaped seeds are apparently WHITE CAAPI ... I was confused because I ordered 10 Cielo caapi seeds and 10 Alicia Anisopetala seeds, after they sent the package I got an e mail saying that they'd thrown in some Banisteriopsis muricata and some white caapi as well. My package contained two envelopes one had all the caapi seeds in (the plate on the right in the first photo) and the other had the Alicia and the heart shaped seeds (plate on the left) I just assumed that all the caapi and muricata were in the one envelope together as I assumed that white caapi seeds were very similar to Cielo caapi...

The vendor told me that the white caapi are not generally very viable and if I am lucky one or two may sprout...Let's see.

I planted the seeds in home made leaf mould compost to try and best re create the jungle floor and it's already hot and humid where I live and the seeds are as fresh as I'm ever going to find over here, so I'm hoping for at least a couple of plants out of this!

Hate to be that guy.. but that is not white caapi. I guess that vendor calls it white ayahausca... but it is not a banisteriopsis caapi.

Any idea's as to what it is then? The vendor has pics of it on his facebook page and now on his website. he told me that the seeds are not usually very viable and wished me luck! I did think though that it was strange that the seeds are so different. I suppose the white caapi vine he sells comes from the same plants as this seed, I wonder if anyone on here has tried it...

So far one of my caapi seeds has sprouted (yesterday), but none of the others have yet...I'm very curious now to know what these seeds are!

This vendor is interesting. They have things no one else does.

However what they call white, black, etc ayahausca on their site is not banisteriopsis caapi.

Not saying it is a bad thing, but the other vines labeled as white, yellow, black caapi from other sites are indeed caapi of their respective colors.

What they have are plants that are something entirely different.

I ordered what I thought was a chaliponga plant from them years ago and it turned out it wasn't at all. It was alicia anisopetala. Still a cool vine but not the chaliponga I wanted.

Keep us updated on those mystery seed because tbh I don't think anyone really knows what they are.

Indeed they are interesting...

Here is a photo from their facebook page of the "White ayahuasca" These seeds are exactly what I was sent, except they had lost their colour and were brown. They've been in soil for just over 2 weeks now (in tropical Asian climate) and nothing has happened yet.

I must say that I'm intrigued and really hope that at least one of them sprouts, I dare say that they will contain harmala alks of some sort!

Ya i didn't mean that they didn't contain harmala alkaloids, because they do.

I was just stating the fact that it wasn't a banisteriopsis.
