Pardon the bizarre syntax of my question.

I've been reading about DMT and I've been reading these boards recently, and I'm unsure whether I've made irresponsible, wasteful, or disrespectful choices with regards to DMT use.

I suppose, above all else, that my biggest mistake stems from my own doubts about my intentions or the potency of the substance at hand. Admittedly, DMT is my first psychedelic. I stumbled across trip reports online and they all made this substance sound incredibly interesting. What bothers me however is whether my fascination with ego death and the concept of hyperspace stems from a legitimate, almost scholarly appreciation for human consciousness, or from an innate fascination with different "highs". Or are these ideals one in the same? Do you have any guidance to offer on how to tell whether my intents are what they should be for a proper DMT experience?

Nonetheless I've experimented with limited quantities of DMT, catching only fleeting glimpses of what may or may not be hyperspace. This brings me to my second fear, am I abusing DMT when I use a sub-breakthrough dose?

Don't put too much weight on what you read about DMT until you spend some time exploring it on your own. Thats the way to find out what is for you.

I wouldn't consider low doses as abuse.
I suggest choosing your setting carefully. I think having a sincere fascination with it is a perfectly good place to start. That's what brought me to it in the beginning.

As far as intention is concerned try starting with being a humble sincere student of it.

Thanks man. I just want to make sure I'm not wasting a substance so many regard so highly, whether by taking too little (I've probably used about 200 mg worth of sub breakthrough doses), or by taking enough without being ready for, or able to appreciate the experience.

hi rccola,

your question is a good one IMO. In essence we have to define and descover for ourselves what is abuse and what isn't. A good indicator for abuse IMO seems to be any sign of escapism or real destructivity that we find in our motivation to use.

Curiosity, fascination, will to explore IMO are not abuse. They are legit reasons to try this/these substances. No one knows what can stem from trying it, before they have, since it affects us all in different ways.

There is also nothing wrong with being fascinated with being "high" per se. It's an interesting state of mind that certainly woud not exist if it didn't have some kind of value for us. Euphoric states or trance states have played a role in many cultures and religions as a form of comunicating with higher forces, spirits, gods or whatnot. And also it's a good way to reset some of your "energetic patterns" - for lack of a better description (since I don't know how this reflects neurologically/biochemically in our bodies).

What becomes abuse IMO is when the desire to be "high" takes over and "normal life" just doesn't cut it anymore. Of course we can use our experiences to improve our life and even reach long periods of almost permanent euphoria without any drugs, but like everything in this universe, there is no steady state and we have to experience various emotions, some of which we feel are negative. escaping from this IMO is bad use of psychedelics; transforming it, good use.

anyway, this is just my own rough definition and some thoughts. Perhaps they give you some food for your own thoughts.
cheers.

My advice would be just absorb the experience and be open. Maybe come back with a report when you get to hyperspace and give us your slice, after all it's not the same for everyone.

Your questions legitimate. You say you've already used 200mg total in dosages? How was that for you? What were your dosages each time?

Imo theres nothing wrong with continual dosing in the sub breakthrough ranges. Just don't hurry along your process of exploration and take your time; do what 'feels' right. But trust me when I say this..once you start getting into the breakthrough-type experiences your use will certainly become more infrequent and your respect will grow from what it already is. You'll start to see what its really about.

I jounrey 'maybe' once a month now. But each time I do I make sure its a breakthrough. Years ago when I started smoking dmt I did many sub breakthroughs for several months, then one day my curiosity got the better of me and I 'felt' the call of sorts. I'm telling you..when you 'feel' that call..go for it and dont look back; push the envelope. Thumbs up

As the time goes on though I've really started to 'lay myself out on the table' so to speak and really question my intentions of why I'm using this at this point in time. I've gained alot....maybe too much...but whats left? Thats what I always ask myself. I respect your ideas on the matter and think as long as you follow that 'innate inner curiosity' and dont hold any regrets or preconceived notions you will do amazing work. Thumbs up

I don't have a milligram scale yet so I don't know exactly what my dosages were. I use a lightbulb vape and I go by hits. I wait until I cant see through the bulb and then I inhale. This will change in a couple days.

I took 1 hit three times, 2 hits once, and three hits twice. I found my experiences thus far to be pretty enjoyable. Nothing terribly interesting, I had some mild visuals and a sense of awareness of my surroundings. Ive noticed things about my house that I havent seen before while on low doses of DMT because I put myself in a more observational frame of mind.

Looking forwards to further exploration of this compound.

I've grown in my attitude towards using dmt a lot since I began using the molecule years ago. First don't worry so much about things you read. Don't try to match up your experiences with what your told or read on here. If you do I promise you will have some dissapointments. Have your own experiences and if you would like write about them good or bad.

We often put far too much pressure on the whole thing from time to time. Yes dmt is very special stuff but some opinions walk a fine line of condemning usage of dmt for the enjoyment of the experience. Having used dmt as the emphasis to self work and understanding of the physical world from a unique perspective I do have great deep respect for this molecule but I also dint think it always has to be about that.

Often I have zero intentions, no real ritual beforehand nor bowing of head. I enjoy dmt and its utter weirdness, I like to role the dice and see what transpires. I don't need a life changing revelation every time nor would I want that.

I try hard these days to butt my nose out of peoples choice and methods of exploring their minds.

Have respect for all the substances and try to see the potential of them and take advantage of that when you can.

I've found that the lightbulb/conduction heating method of vaping 'burns' the spice and generally misfires...

This us true. I used a meth pipe for over a year and found it tricky to not over heat. The one thing more tricky wasn't so much not burning the spice but more that at a certain temperature past the vaporazation point the melted oil dmt just stops making vapor.and sits there collecting heat as you apply more thinking its not hot enough.

I used a cold wet towel to cool the pipe down between hits. Its much smoother to re heat to vaping point than keeping it there IMO.

I really wanted to write a vaing tek with this shitty set up because I used it a lot and many others do too. It can be successful but tricky while your figuring it out. Mis fires were common.

Easiest best way is to infuse it. No more misfires, no more techniques, no expensive pipes needed. Changa is it.
