Not sure whether this should go here or in open discussion? I chose here since it seems the most appropriate section for reports though it is not about DMT. I’m sharing this so people can know about what can go wrong when you don’t use psychedelics responsibly and don’t follow the rules of set and setting. This happened some years ago when I was irresponsible, young and reckless. PRE-CONDITIONS(mind)Set: not great, I initially planned to do this with a friend but he couldn’t come and I was annoyed and thought well fine I’ll do it myself (physical condition) Set: good Setting (location): home in my bedroom, family was home but asleep time of day: 22:00 recent drug use: marijuana last meal: dinner 20:00 PARTICIPANTGender: f body weight: 48kg known sensitivities: - history of use: experienced with LSD, at least 10 strong trips BIOASSAYSubstance(s): LSD Dose(s): 3 tabs, ?300mcg+ each Method of administration: sublingual
EFFECTSAdministration time: T=0:00 2 tabs, ?T=1:00 1 tab Duration: 24 hours First effects: 10 minutes Peak: T=2:00-T=5:00 Come down: T=8:00 Baseline: T=22:00 Intensity (overall): 4 Evaluation / notes: OPTIONALPleasantness: 1 Unplesantness: 4 Visual Intensity: 4 AFTER-EFFECTSHangover: 4 Afterglow: 2 REPORTI stupidly assumed these tabs would be the same strength as all the others I had had. I’d only had one experience taking 2, but it had been positive so I was confident I could handle this. I took the 2 tabs and sat on the bed waiting for the effects to start. Within 10 minutes I knew I had made a big mistake… it was coming on strong already and my arms began to trail. I tried not to panic, I knew I had taken too much, I tried to calm down and find some music to listen to. The auditory sensation was so enhanced it was too much, the sounds were too rich it was overwhelming it hurt my ears in the nicest way. The things on my screen were beginning to distort and melt. &$#$% what am I going to do?? Next mistake, I thought lying down and trying to sleep off the first part might work. I successfully pass out for some time, might have been for an hour but when I woke up it was into a different reality. What happened? Either this is a dream or I’ve died and gone to hell. I knew I had one more tab and god knows why I thought well I might as well eat it too. It was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted, melting in my mouth like sugar. I had a candle out, it was safely protected with a covered lampshade like thing but blew it out for safe measure. At this point all rational thoughts are completely out the window – I was tripping HARD. As the smoke from the extinguished candle hit my nose I thought “FIRE!”. I went to the bathroom and fate had it I was wearing a bright orange jumper – I saw this as flames in the mirror “#$#% I really am on fire!”. Into the shower I went panicking and freaking out, I turned on the water. But #$#* there are people home I’ve got to get out of here! I made it downstairs and outside but I was still burning, I could feel it. This felt as real as it gets, I could feel a fire burning from within. I touched my head (I naturally have a small dent on my head) when I felt it I was sure I was melting. I was going to die! I started to run, throwing off my jumper and clothes. I have a belly piercing, as I touched that my mind thought it was a hernia – my guts were spilling out, I looked up at the full moon, I was a werewolf, a monster! I started to scream, as I ran I was burning alive, it hurt, it was hot, I was finally just a piece of meat, sizzling, scorching. I ended up on a lawn trying to extinguish this fire by rolling on the grass which had cold dew. Someone came outside, “Are you OK? Do you need help?” “Yes, I’m burning!!!”. The next part is a bit blurry. I was taken inside, voices asking what’s wrong? What happened? All I could say was “WATER, WATER!!!!” As I looked my fingers were blue, melting and streams of smoke were coming off them. A girl looked at me, there was blood on her face, had a murder happened? A remember a lady saying “I bet you wish you hadn’t taken it now”. I tried to escape, someone held me and wouldn’t let me go. The police arrived and asked for my name and address. Surprisingly I could remember it fine but I didn’t want to tell them so I spelled it out slowly. An ambulance arrived and I was taken in it. Someone shone a bright light in my eye. This was the end of the world. There weren’t many people left. I had burned my house and my family and cats were dead. But I was being saved. I was being saved. Now in a hospital bed, I hear laughter. I’m starting to come down from the peak but still tripping. “They are laughing at me” “No, no they’re not, just calm down” The nurse had the most beautiful eyes, pools of liquid black deep as the night. Finally I could rest. My parents arrived. It must have been 3-4am or something. So much disappointment on their faces. I didn’t want to deal with this. I passed out and woke up at about 7am. I wanted to leave but I had to wait to tell the psychologist I wasn’t crazy I just took a ridiculous amount of acid. “Really? I thought that stuff was only going around in the 60s.” I threw up in the bathroom and was taken home. The tail end of the trip lasted well into that night, I was completely exhausted – mentally and physically. Afterwards it almost felt like a dream, like it had never really happened. Not having a sitter and taking such big dose alone was utter stupidity. The one positive I got was faith in my own psyche, if I could survive that then I can survive anything. Of course ever since then my respect towards taking psychedelics matured greatly and I prepare very carefully before any trip to make sure the set and setting are right and I am taking it for the right reasons. Haven’t had a bad time since

an ode to the joys of recreational LSD usage. Hope you got something out of it at least. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

400ug each ? 1200ug total ? No ego death ? I think you are being (way) too generous with the dosage. Thanks for the sharing the experience. I know I found some similar themes in your report Got GVG ? Mhm. Got DMT ? You're right it may well have been less but they definitely were at least 300mcg based on trips I've had with tabs I'm 100% were between 150-250mcg from the lab.
Depending on the definition, I don't think ego-death is guaranteed with dosage particularly in relation to a bad trip. With a bad trip there is an acute awareness of this bad event and you know it's happening to you whereas when you are on a good plane you can start to let go of this awareness of the self leading to an ego-death.

No need to edit, I just think mass produced blotters don't exist above 150ug, outliners aside. Without lab testing, it's really an area of speculation so it's best to agree to disagree In any case, great post to bring awareness about dose/set/setting. Do you happen to remember what was the hospital's procedure to LSD ingestion ? Sedatives and such. As for ego death, I hypothesize that large doses overruns any resistance. I believe Grof was talking about his experiments showing that around 200-250ug dose but I have trouble finding the reference. Got GVG ? Mhm. Got DMT ? They do just not so common these days as before but I'm happy to agree to disagree I was hooked up to a drip with fluids when I woke up but not sure if they gave me any sedatives. I would assume if I was clearly still tripping or agitated they may have given a benzodiazepine. "It is absolutely essential for the successful course and outcome of an LSD session that the subject lets go of his or her usual defenses and surrenders to the psychedelic process. This usually requires the possibility of relegating the reality testing and all the decisions on practical matters to a trusted sitter. A person taking a psychedelic drug alone cannot really fully abandon control at the crucial moments of the experience, because part of him or her has to continue playing the role of reality-oriented judge and sitter. However, total surrender is absolutely essential for completing the experience of ego death, one of the crucial steps in the LSD process." - quote from LSD Psychotherapy by Stanislav Grof

Great report, very well written. Like Shaolin said, it brings about a very good awareness of dose, set and setting. Bad trips can be pulled round, but with doses like that things can just snowball. The initial panic of the speedy come-up just led to further anxiety, which led to further anxiety still, and when you're tripping as hard as you were there's no pulling anything round. Thank you for sharing this important experience. Peace Macre All things stated within this website by myself are expressly intended for entertainment purposes only.

Sweet Jesus, those must have been some super tabs! i have eaten up to a 8 tabsof pretty clean/decent blotter and never experienced anything that far out of control. I'm pretty sure i have a high tolerance to LSD for some reason because 1-2 of the same tabs had my friends faces melting. Personally i've never had anything like this happen to me and i hope that you are ok! I can't imagine the terrible feeling you must have had when the cops arrived... wow... Thanks for sharing! Not everyone uses LSD to pretend they're the reincarnation of Elijah. Some of us are actually exploring our minds in more tangible ways. OP, how CERTAIN are you that you've taken LSD in the past, and that this too was LSD? As for having blotter at 250ug per dose, I highly doubt that. LSD is considered a full fledged psychedelic at around 200ug, when most people get passed 350ug, and DEFINITELY at 500ug there is COMPLETE boundary dissolution and sender and receiver become one in the same. Sorry you ended up in one of the worst places, other than jail or a psych ward, on a mind bending substance, I know the feeling. “The most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Everything I had recognized came from the depths of my memory and my psyche. I understood that our entire universe is contained in the mind and the spirit. We may choose not to find access to it, we may even deny its existence, but it is indeed there inside us, and there are chemicals that can catalyze its availability.”

Yeahhhh, freaking out on LSD can be horrifying and a very intense experience. I've only had a 'bad' experience once on but it was due to me skimping on the setting. I learned my lesson with that. LSD imo requires the utmost of preparation for my mindset and what I surround myself with during the first few hours. Because once your thrown out of wack into a crazp loop t loop, sometimes its real hard to reel yourself back in. I hope you learned alot due to this experience.

Thanks for the replies, as Macre said it really did just snowball from one particular bad event, I had no control at all after that. I did thankfully learn from it and it certainly makes for an interesting story Korey - I'm more than 100% sure it was LSD. This is based on a lot of experience, also having done the other RC's commonly passed off as LSD these days. I've had LSD I know has come straight from a lab that supplies worldwide so there's no doubt. This particular source always supplied particularly potent tabs, I would guess though that they may have not been mass produced rather someone had the liquid and was making the blotter far stronger than what generally gets around. They did use to mass produce very strong tabs (~400mcg) back in the 60s & 70s. As mentioned before in the quote from Grof boundary dissolution (in terms of the ego) requires surrender to the experience which was the opposite of what was going on in my case. I am amazed at how wacky and basic the associations of my mind became, smoke=fire, orange=fire, moon=werewolf, bump=hernia, dent=melting. Tattvamasi - Very true, I find even things from the previous day can have bearing on a trip, I found aspects of a movie I watched the day before playing out vividly into my trip the next night.

I trust you lixiqon I'm aware of the high dose tabs back in the day, but also aware of many reports I've read in books that have tested LSD purchased on the black market, and though there were doses marked at over 300ug, the more common dosages were anywhere from 50ug to 175ug. I believe erowid has one of these reports from the 60's or 70's somewhere on their site, I'll share it if I find it later, just for the sake of knowledge Yep, not letting go during a LSD experience is a big nono, and could see a reaction similar to yours if a person was resisting it at high doses. I've made the set and setting mistake once as a novice LSD user back in the day, my issue was I could not let go around the people I was with, wasn't as hellish as your experience, but it definitely was uncomfortable and confusing. “The most compelling insight of that day was that this awesome recall had been brought about by a fraction of a gram of a white solid, but that in no way whatsoever could it be argued that these memories had been contained within the white solid. Yep you're right most of the stuff these days is around that dose. Only from that source did I ever get such strong trips, everything else I've tried equivalates with the more common dosages. I might add that I did experience an ego loss on just one of these same tabs (+ some weed). I was sitting in a bedroom looking at a fishing rod propped up in the corner when suddenly there was no room anymore, no me anymore - just black space. I was an orange line, travelling into infinity, there were two parallel lines on either side. Then I saw sparkling symbols in silverly green gold twirling into the shape of a heart and then I was back in my body in the room . They were some crazy tabs indeed - on the same trip on just one I had spiders on the rims of my eyelids, saw hundreds of glittering fish in a lava lamp and my clock was mocking me because it was moving from side to side, the time had stopped and there were coloured dots and lines all around it.
