This may sound like a dumb question, but I don't think I read any info on the subject. I'm curious what to do with the waste naphtha and lye solutions. I assume you pour them down the drain, but what if you have a septic system. I wouldn't dump it outside, but will it do any damage to a septic system.

The main concern is killing off the systemic bacteria, but a little bit of lye won't do it. People with septics infact use it all the time to clean their drains. I dunno about the naptha, but I wouldn't do it. Who knows how it'd react with the system. I dump most my naptha back into a spare can to be used for household applications (degreasing, fuel/fire starter) and sometimes for little quantities I just pour it out onto the driveway to evaporate.

Hi, If you have a gravel driveway, it makes a great weed killer
The best thing to do is to recycle, meaning use it for your next extraction! There might even still be some spice lingering in there.
