For legal questions like this it very much depends on your country. I only know about US laws but here's what I know...there was a US court case in California a few months ago in which a man had killed bicyclist with his car and admitted doing so on his online web-page. The court ruled that the online admission could not be used as evidence. There was also a case a few years back in which a man was e-mailing death threats against the US president (at that time it was GW Bush) from a public library. Federal agents were actually sent to the public library and physically monitored the place until the man came and typed a further death threat, at which point they moved in and arrested him. It would be very tricky and basically pointless for such an online admission to be used as evidence - authorities would still need a "corpus delicti" - physical evidence - to establish guilt. (I have been unable to find via a quick google search links for these specific cases, just from memory).

Most miraculous pets don't help when LE has physical evidence. Nor do dreams, nor friends.

Personal communication with a person charged of drug manufacturing confirmed that (USA).

Nope AFAIK thus far nobody was raided because of posting online on psychedelic forums. There were a couple of people raided here in the forum but one was because of growing weed/stealing electricity, the other was because he was a suspected weed dealer by the police.

And the lesson we can learn here kids?.... if you're growing weed you probably shouldn't steal electricity (and vice versa).

Wow! I always just assumed SWIM was a psychedelic GOD. Everyone seems to talk about him and all the crazy experiences he has had. The guy must be in a heavy state of psychosis.

Oh wow...
I thought, at first, that SWIM was this awesome FOAF that everyone had... or that it was the demigod of dmt-nexus lawlz. Then I found out what it stood for, and assumed (ass u me) that it was common etiquette here. So now I learn that I am 'That Guy'.... I hate being that guy...
lol guess no more swimming for me.

2 years ago everyone was swimmimg. It got old.

I feel bad for the couple people on here who have Swim in they're name. Well, there's swimfriend, so at least one. Swimfriend, I hope you know no-one is against you...My advice is keep the name, a relic, from a bygone era.

I don't know about the rest of you...but the 'SWIM' thing is getting very tiresome.

I'm no lawyer but I'm sure the term would not protect anyone (please correct me if I'm wrong).

If we can't be ourselves in this forum (with appropriate anonymity of course) then we might as well ALL go SWIMing..Confused

I guess this question is directed at All Nexians inc. Creators and Mods.

Is it time to stop, or at least discourage, all the SWIMing going on around here?

Answers on a postcard please...Big grin

I agree. It allows a certain undertone of fear and paranoia that gives me the jibblies.

Fear, yes, paranoia, no.

Unfortunately most of us face imprisonment for what we choose do with our own bodies and minds.

SWIM certainly has a lot to lose. I don't think saying SWIM is likely to help but then if SWIM was thinking straight SWIM probably would never post on these forums or even use them. But SWIM can't resist.

I don't like it at all and it won't help law wise, but I feel its up to the individual to asses there own comfort level. Don't think telling people what to do fits with the general ideology of the nexus.

The redundant SWIM makes the whole reading a pain.
Now it's true that opinion vary and choose of language weapons are up to the poster, as long as it stays in line with Attitude !
I don't think we will ban SWIMming, though you can always stress a poster about the question: to SWIM or not to SWIM.

Yeah I agree. From a legal point of view it is pointless.
It ruins the flow of a post and more importantly, it frustrates the hell out of meSmile
However if people feel more comfortable using it, they should be allowed.
Banning/flagging/deleting posts containing SWIM would cause more anguish that it's worth, and some people would become more hesitant in providing helpful advice or experiences.

Aw not again the same thread!

As of lately, asking to stop/ban SWIM and/or preaching against it has started becoming more annoying than the use of SWIM.

Big grin well swim himself is guilty of preaching against swimming. Swim had difficulty reading the post due to the preponderance of swims. Swim even began to think of swim as an actual "persona". In fact swim was a member of the forum for some months before knowing what swim actually represented. Swim once counted over 73 swims in a 600 word or so post.
Swim has actually got into the habit of counting how many swims an average swimmer indulges in. Could swim have a touch of OCD? or simply an aversion to swimming? Anyway I was and still am a poor swimmer so what the hell!Laughing

Death to SWIM!!!!!
I am certifiably insane, as such all posts written by me should be regarded as utter nonsense or attempts to get attention by using totally fictitious verbiage...........

The above refers to the fictitious 'I'
