Jet-injectors are not a new thing; the innovation here is the degree of control of drug-delivery that the magnetic technology affords.The ability to send a powder through the skin as if it were a liquid I think builds upon a technology used already by researchers who wish to deliver viral or bacterial DNA sequences which are micro-plated with gold.
The great thing abot this development is the ability to deliver compounds to the retina and through the eardrum with a high degree of control, IMO.The existing jet-injectors are not good for IV delivery though, but I guess with some work, this new method may be able to overcome this.Amongst the next steps would be to assess the technology for adverse effects including transmission via/contamination of the device of bloodborne viruses/prions etc.
