**Edit - please note that this thread was originally entitled "How long after amoxcillin.." However, I edited it to Antibiotics and Psychedelics with the intent to make it less specific. Please feel free to list any interactions or lack there of between psychedelics and antibiotics.. Along with a source or word of caution if it was only via first hand experience.. Thanks** Hey there, so I had some minor dental surgery done not quite a week ago.. The Dr (dentist, whatever lol..) prescribed me Amoxicillin to prevent infection. I am on a 7 day regime, 500 mg x 3 times / day. I just finished exams and would like to celebrate before I start working for the summer. However, due to the antibiotic and the recent surgery I have enough sense not to celebrate, with substances anyways , until at least after the antibiotic regime is done. My question is how long should I wait after this regime before orally ingesting any tryptamines or phenethylamines? Also does anyone know of any contradictions between Amoxicillin and marijuana? As I could not find anything and have been baking/eating it to relieve some pain. Thanks in advance. You'll be fine to eat weed. Don't smoke unless you want to mess your surgery up. blooooooOOOOOooP fzzzzzzhm KAPOW! This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. Grow a plant or something and meditate on that

I heard that drinking was not ok on antibiotics. But the last time I went to the doctor he said it was ok to drink booze. So I would think marijuana would be fine. Eating or vaporizing should be fine. Mind you, eating does make it psychedelic! So your teeth might feel odd! Naw my old lady smoked 1 joint after getting her wisdom teeth out and got dry socket.. Said it hurt like something fierce.. However, I did not have any teeth extracted.. I got a skin graft (from the roof of my mouth) to correct a receding gum line. Though smoking is still a no go.. Ill just stick to baking the chron .. I was more looking for contradictions in regards to the phenethylamines and tryptamines and how long I should wait afterthe regime has ended.. I have read that amoxicillin inhibits CYP34A ... though this was only on bluelight haha.. Anyone with anymore wisdom than I please feel free to chime in... I've had a nasty flu about 3 weeks ago and I was on Amoxicillin as well (well Amoxiclav, but the same active substance). Mine were 875mg Amox + 125mg Clavulanic acid and I took one of those each 12 hours, so 2/day. Cannabis doesn't interact with it, I'm a daily smoker so I could tell if they somehow interacted - in a visisble way anyway. Mushrooms work normally as well, didn't find any known interactions, so I just went for it. I haven't vaped DMT because my throat was feeling awkward during that time, and I wouldn't recommend it for you either, since you have an open injury. MDMA is not okay, Ayahuasca is not okay. From what I know, what alcohol does is increase the rate with which your body flushes the antibiotics, but it may also decrease the rate with which the antibiotics are absorbed by the body, rendering them a little less efficient than they would normally be. It's better to just abstain from alcohol for the week of the medication, it's a bitch to get complications from infections because the antibiotics didn't do their job. Had this happening once, never going to do it again. The truth...lies within.

I too have not noted any interactions between amoxicillin and oral cannabis. Though I cant comment on smoking, as this cost be over a grand (even with insurance coverage) and I do not want to risk effing it up just to be able to have a puff or what have you. ...So i wont be smoking/vaping anything til this has finally fnished healing .. Which might be sometime to come as last night the area where the graft was taken from opened up and bled out fairly fierce I have also read that alcohol is a no go for those reasons though some say it has had no ill effects, this is not something I want to risk for the sake of such an unenlightening buzz. Good to know about the mushrooms. Do you have sources for MDMA/aya being a no go? Its not that I dont believe you, Im just curious to have a read myself. As noted, I have read amoxicillin apparently inhibits CYP34A which would normally break down mdma (and im assuming other amps / PEA's ?.. can anyone lend any insight to this?) MDMA supposedly weakens your immune system. While vulnerable, you don't want to expose to even more bad stuff. http://www.macalester.ed...p/mdma/immunesystem.htmlAbout ayahuasca, my line of thinking is that the increased blood pressure could cause problems, if not necessarily interfering directly with the antibiotics. Most retreat websites I've seen don't recommend going for a retreat if you are currently under, or just finished an antibiotic treatment, so I'm guessing there should be some reason for that...just don't know exactly what that is... The truth...lies within.

@ rjb, aye yes I remember reading that MDMA does supposedly weaken the immune system. @proto, Perhaps I am not reading in between the lines but I see no clear mention of tryptamines or phens in your link .. thanks for the responses this far. I suppose some patience is in order and I should wait likely at least a few days if not a week after finishing the antibiotics before indulging. And Im sure giving myself some extra time to heal definitely wont hurt. Reason I posted it is because I can't find any sources saying these substances will hurt you when you are on amoxicillin. Buuuuut just because i cant find lit doesn't mean it isn't out there. proceed at your own risk. blooooooOOOOOooP fzzzzzzhm KAPOW! This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. Amoxicillin and cannabis has no adverse interaction; as others have pointed out you dont really want to be smoking after an oral procedure such as you describe as it could possibly interfere with how well the graft takes. The CYPD enzyme system becomes much more relevant when macrolides such as erythromycin/clarithromycin are being taken. Amphetamines also have no adverse interaction with penicillins including amoxicillin.Alcohol too, when taken in moderation also doesnt impact on penicillins significantly; metronidazole is the antibiotic which requires total abstinence from alcohol. It covers anaerobes and if taken with alcohol causes a similar effect to drinking with Antabuse, aka Disulfiram. Thanks for the info Corpus, good to know. Any info in regards to amoxillicin and tryptamines (more specifically mushrooms or oral dmt) and harmalas (specifically caapi extract)? Note - I dont plan on taking anything until after the meds are finished, just curious. MAOIs with penicillins are not contra-indicated; DMT and psilocybin similarly also have no adverse interaction. It must be remembered that a caapi brew and consuming mushrooms does not mean that only RIMAs and psilocin/psilocybin, respectively, are being consumed. Well that covers all the interactions that I was concerned about.. However, if anyone has any other possible interactions, or lack there of, please feel free to list them here for others who may find themselves on antibiotics and can not postpone that urge to go down the rabbit hole ... But please remember patience is a virtue and your health is more important than lifting off.. Again, thank you to all those who have contributed thus far "If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be a sorry state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny""My orders were to test the drug...It works" Bass Association by Far Too LoudProfile Picture by David Aronson, http://www.alchemicalwedding.com/index.html
