After reading MANY old posts with the search function, Ive been unable to come across any definite verdict on this. Does san pedro cactus contain any significant maoi properties?

I ask because I now have to wear a 25mcg fentanyl patch, and I need to know if its safe to mix the cactus with the fentanyl, or if there would be an unsafe potentiation of the narcotic. Needless to say, my doctor and pharmacist were of no help with this lol. But I did ask them anyway. They just told me not to take the cactus of course.

I really would rather discontinue the patches, but thats not possible at this time Thanks for any help with this.

Perhaps some do, but this has not been demonstrated or indicated in any substantive way yet and it is not considered to be an issue.

..most amines, depending on dosage and individual, can elicit a small amount of MAO inhibition..even DMT..but i don't think an ordinary amount of mescaline cactus would, on it's own, lead to strong (i.e potentially contraindicative with drugs) MAOI effects..
..the MAOIs usually advised not to be taken with fentanyl seem to be irreversible synthetics (not reversable short acting like harmalas), but unfortunately i can't find any data on harmine/fentanyl dangers or otherwise..

Thank you guys for your responses. I think I will resume my work with the cactus, but will start at a very low amount and work my way back up just to make sure I dont have any problems.

I think I do have a little bit of breathing room if the fentanyl is potentiated some, since I never feel any effects from the fent. It handles my pain but Im never high from it anymore.

Thanks Mew, Im curious how that went for ya? I dont feel anything from the fentanyl anymore. Even when I did, it was just a little dizziness.

On a lighter note, I feel like a moron haha! I first came in here tonight to this thread and saw the title was changed to "san pedro, meth or not"! And the new banner etc. Took me a while to realize the date lol

Couldn't you also just take the patch off for awhile before dosing with the cactus? I would think the cactus would help a bit with keeping your mind off any pain as well. If it's not too much pain to deal with.

PsilocybeChild, I thought about doing that at first but since Ive been on these patches for about 3 months, Im pretty sure Im physically addicted by now. Going through withdrawls while on a mescaline journey doesnt sound like fun lol. Also yes, the pain would be added to it and complete my misery lol.

Ive decided to take a half dose and see how I react. Then as long as everything seems good, go to my full doses and get on with life
