Does anyone have any experience using the roots of Syrian Rue rather than the seeds? Or the whole plant materials?
I can't remember where but, I remember hearing that either the root or the plant material, as a whole, has a cleaner chemical profile than the seeds.
I am wondering if the experience is noticeably different.
The stems of the plant contain about 0.36% alkaloids, the leaves about 0.52%, and the roots up to 2.5%.
While the seeds contain 5.9% according to Wikipedia.

But considering how invasively the plant grows and how cheap seeds are, it shouldn't be too hard to come up with lots of plant material. If it were cleaner then there would be less need to extract it. maybe it would feel more like caapi.
Any info?

I have read somewhere, that unripe seeds have a cleaner profile of harmine, and more concentration than leaves, stems or roots:

"Degtyarev et al. 1984 found harmine and harmaline together to form only 25% of the total alkaloids present in the ripe fruit but 75% of the total alkaloid present in the green fruit (Collected in Yagnob Basin, Tadzhikistan during July)
Total alkaloid content was higher in ripe than unripe fruit but profiles were different so the actual total harmine yield was far higher in the unripe fruit.
Ripe seeds were found to contain 0.9% harmine and 0.6% harmaline.
Green seeds were found to contain 4.3% harmine and 0.28% harmaline.
Peganine was present as 40% of the total alkaloid in the ripe fruit (2.5% peganine) but only 5% of the total alkaloid in the green fruit (0.28% peganine).
Deoxyvascicinone was present as 15% of the total alkaloid in the ripe fruit (0.9%) and 5% in the green fruit (0.28%)."
