An individual that I know of followed this path to freebase DMT:

(Nothing too special or unique in this procedure that individual is aware of until the italicized portion)

1. Water (with a splash of vinegar) extraction of 100g shredded MHRB x3.

2. Vacuum filter, allow sediment to settle in refrigerator x4.
-Last filtration leaves no residue on filter paper.

3. Basify 500mL of MHRB tea to pH ~13.3 with NaOH solution (appx 30-40g NaOH).
- Solution turns milky in appearance during initial addition of NaOH solution, then dark purple upon further addition.

4. Basified solution is shaken with ~125mL room temp d-limonene and then separated.

5. Saturated d-limonene is shaken with FASW and separated x3.

Steps 4/5 repeated x3. These pulls were carried out in rather quick succession, individual did not realize the BLAB recommended doing pulls over the course of 1-2 hours. Upon realizing this, individual did another limonene pull over the course of ~24h then salted again with FASW x 3.

6. FASW is now ~ appx. 350mL of solution, which was air evapped to ~250mL over the course of 36h. Solution was then further reduced to ~75mL via <200F oven heat.

- Individual realized that tek recommends evapping solution to dry before proceeding to freebase conversion, but did not really see the point in this and decided to filter off the excess fumaric acid that had precipitated out of solution and proceeded directly to freebase conversion via sodium carbonate saturated water (which was removed of excess sodium carbonate via vacuum filtration before mixing with FASW.)

- Upon addition of ~50mL saturated sodium carbonate water, the solution turned milky. After 24h in a dark closet, individual began to become impatient upon noting the appearance of freebase precipitate powder in water, and orange/brown collection of goo around the edge of the meniscus, and questioned the general extractions forum on whether it was truly necessary to wait the full 3 days or simply filter powder at that point. Individual decided to wait it out and put the solution in refrigerator for 48h more.

- Individual was shocked, excited, and flooded with awe when he pulled the flask from refrigerator and discovered long shards of DMT freebase crystal on the bottom of the flask, completely unlike the pic displayed in the BLAB tek.

Are these results typical for the BLAB tek? Individual expected some little crystals stuck to the side of a glass and ended up with long, completely transparent shards that individual has only seen in pics of extensive recrystallization and slow freeze precipitations.

* Individual created this post under the impression that these results are not typical, and that his technique of freebase conversion has resulted in superior crystal formation. The only significant difference individual can currently attribute these results to is the filtration of excess fumaric acid from the FASW / DMT fumarate solution, addition of SCSW (sodium carbonate saturated water) to FASW before complete evaporation of FASW / DMT fumarate solution, and the 24h period in the closet rather than the refrigerator.

On a personal note: I simply cannot wait until I am able to share some pix with all of you. Obtaining a camera is my highest priority at this point!

Yeah crystallization depends on several factors such as temperature, amount of liquid, dissolved substances, movement, speed of change of pH, etc. The crystal in BLAB tek picture for the conversion was just one example, from when it once formed these flaky crystals. I've also gotten from powdery to beautiful spiky shards, or more rhomboid diamon shapes, and also more impure looking brown wax.

The BLAB description to first evap the FASW is because some people like to keep their dmt in fumarate form. If you want you can indeed straight away add sodium carb to FASW, but depending how clean your limonene/FASW pulls were and on the other conditions mentioned before, it might form a dirtier precipitation.

Endlessness, you have been most helpful throughout this process! What do you recommend as the ideal method to form the pretty shardy crystals as opposed to the waxy ones?

I should note that individual did indeed have some (what he believes to be) very clean DMT fumarate solution before combining with SCSW, at one point even remixing FASW pulls with some fresh limonene and carefully separating to ensure that an insignificant amount of limonene would be present in the final solution (however, it still smelled of limonene, is this typical?)
