Just thinking outloud, let say we extracted the 5-MeO-DMT or what else might be in the phalaris, and drop that in some juice(or the safest method of digestion) Would it be possible to make "ayahuasca" of that? Because as I understand it, the maoi will protect the molecule from being destroyed. Not that I would like to try an 4-5 hour 5 meo dmt trip, it sounds extremly hard to endure that intensity.

Would love if someone have tried and tell a little about the experience

Yes you can use harmalas with tryptamines extracted from whatever plant, and people have done it succesful with phalaris (I think it has been described in The Entheogen Review too, as well as in Trout's Notes, and I guess someone in the Nexus must have done it too)..

The two issues one has to consider, though are: first of all, there is some doubt regarding the safety of ingesting 5-MeO-DMT orally with harmalas (check this thread for a more thorough discussion; https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=13240 ) . If it was just DMT, that would be just fine, which is the case fr some phalaris

The other factor is, how can you know what alkaloids you extracted from phalaris? As you may know, phalaris alkaloid content varies a lot, so ideally you should look into TLC, which you can do at home to test your plant extracts. The other thing is choosing a proper extraction method that will not dissolve potentially toxic unwanted alkaloids such as gramine and hordenine.. How are you planning to try it?

IMO..make sure you know what "phalaris" you have..is it arundinacea, brachy, aquatica etc?? You are going to want to isolate the spectrum of desired tryptamines and leave the hordenine and gramine behind, which means NP solvent like limonene. Maybe sunflower oil or olive oil could work I dont know..but based on my experiments with freebased goo from iso washes done on resin from an evapped tea, removing gramine/hordenine is the way to go.

My first encounter with DMT was with a Phalaris (arundinacea I think) and Syrian rue combo. This was over ten years ago so i'm a bit sketchy on details but it went like this: I grew the Phalaris from seed, stressing the plant by letting it dry out every now and then. The purpose of this was to increase the alkaloid content but i'm not sure if that is the consensus view of what to do now. The plant material was chopped up and then repeatedly frozen and thawed a few times to break down the cell walls. Both the Phalaris and Syrian Rue were brewed separately with plently of lemon juice. I think both brews were pretty disgusting and I threw at least half of it away when i tried to drink them.

It was certainly effective but wasn't a colorful trip at all. The trip was very intense and more mental than visual. I'm not sure if I didn't drink enough MAOI or enough Phalaris to get the sort of aya trip I read about here but it definitely worked. The thing I remember most about it was being shown the mistakes I was making in life - these mistakes were so obvious but for some reason I couldn't see them before the trip. The truth had been right in front of my nose and I hadn't the sight to see it.

I'm not sure if it was the taste or the intensity but I still have a big bag of Phalaris seeds and plenty of Rue seeds - I never went back. I don't have enough spare time in my day for an aya trip now with a child to look after but that's where freebase comes in!

Needless to say this was before the Nexus and I wasn't careful about how much I was dosing - I just took everything I had grown. In those days people knew about the sheep staggers (is this caused by gramine or hordenine?) but believed it didn't affect humans.

EDIT: I've just remembered some more of the trip - my dad had died shortly before and the trip really helped me grieve. In that respect it was very valuable.

Wow, thanks for all the answers. Awesome that it works! because this might be future, mimosa is getting to much attention.

So there got to be like hundreds of plants out there that can produce the aya like experience. Wait a minute, only dmt in phalaris? Are there extraction teks on how to only get the dmt? Or is it just one strain that is needed, because if I dont find the right strain here then grow some would be the next step.

Had real bad luck lately, like money got lost in mail. Second custom took it I think, but they havnt contacted my. Hope it all goes well this time, gonna order 750 gram inside EU. But still, it is getting hard finding and buying it easy these days.

Havnt gone to that step yet, but if my mimosa get stopped again, then this will be my only option. Hope the mimosa comes, way better options. But sometimes one have to improvise. With a little time and effort it sounds like it could be done Smile Good to know others out there are experimenting.

Wow, sounds good anyway. Sure maybe not real aya, but close anyway. But 5 meo is potent stuff. Thanks for sharing really, too little information about the combo.

Actaully it is the DMT as far as I understand. DMT is toxic to sheep. Sheep staggers from phalaris is also unheard of in North America from what I have read, and is only documented in europe. Either way there are no cases of human staggers Smile

..from "Experimental evidence that tryptamine alkaloids do not cause Phalaris aquatica sudden death syndrome in sheep"Bourke C.A., Carrigan M.J., Dixon R.J.; Australian Veterinary Journal Volume 65, Issue 7, pages 218โ€“220, July 1988

Quote:
SUMMARY: The acute toxicity for sheep of 3 alkaloids that occur in Phalaris acquatica was examined by intravenous and oral administration. The lowest tested dose rates that produced clinically observed signs were, for 5.methoxy dimethyltryptamine, 0.1 mglkg body weight intravenously and 40 mglkg orally; for gramine, 10 mglkg intravenously and 500 mglkg orally; and for hordenine, 20 mglkg intravenously and 800 mglkg orally. All induced the clinical signs observed in the nervous form of phalaris toxicity, but none induced the cardiac, sudden death, syndrome.

..one theory is that the ß-carbolines are rendering dietary toxic amines active, a kind of 'ayahuasca' toxicity..see this thread though [Phalaris = the way of the future p.5-6] for other toxin theories, and warnings of unexplained phalaris potency when ingested with MAOIs...

Hmm, is there any spices that one can extract only dmt? and grow by one self? Would love if someone had a tek and the name of the strain.

Please tell where you got your seeds endless, or maybe they grow where you live.

Edit: found one strain, turkey red But i guess its not the same

Found his post: " he next info I'd like to add about phalaris is the recent GC-MS done in AQ1 and Yugo red (Big Medicine coming soon, maybe later today). Identification of all the peaks still pending, but AQ1 has DMT, no 5-MeO, no gramine. "

What is the total extraction percentage? Would it be like extracting dmt out of kaustic soda and heptane? And normal re x. Heard him say d-limosine, they arent the same thing? or is it?

zombicyckle, whenever you wonder about sources of plants/seeds, take a look at our suppliers section. If you use the search function and write "phalaris" on the header and select only the suppliers section, you can find this thread. The aq1 I analysed was from dreamer so that the supplier....

Extract with naphtha or with limonene and salt out, and you should have your stuff reasonably clean of the toxic alkaloids. AQ1 is definitely a good bet

Thanks, sorry I missed that. No harm done Smile Sounds easy, this will for sure something I will do in the future. And you guys have payed the way, thanks. Because when they ban mimosa worldwide we will have backups. And all seeds ect are legal, or here atleast. Dosnt matter what plant it is
