So I just put in an order here for an alkaline earth silicate material which is safer and stable at higher heat than ceramic or fiberglass fibre but right now I only have fiberglass rope.

I tried to use the fibreglass rope with DMT and it tended to flow into the middle and not vaporize. I was worried the new stuff I was ordering might do the same so I tried a little prototype design with the fiberglass rope weaved (quite micky mouse-ly) trough a previously-used copper mesh ball.

When I used it to scrape up the gooey jimjam DMT it worked wonderfully, much much better than copper alone getting all of it in 3 seconds instead of 80-90% in 10+ seconds.
When I put the flame to it plumes of smoke came off and I was somewhat surprised that the smoke tasted smoother and more DMT-y than with the copper.

The fiberglass rope is stable at up to 500-600C and simply melts after that. I messaged 4 different suppliers and they told me that fumes coming off them are not a worry and most of the respiratory concerns are from insulation which is in MASSIVE quantities compared to this. Regardless I'm not stating this specific design as safe or recommended.
I plan to do the same with the Alkaline Earth Silicate material, or something close to it, but I was quite impressed with the performance of this prototype.

The 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Have you had chance to test out the alkaline earth silicate stuff? I just ordered some because it sounds a lot safer than ceramic or fibreglass.

Also costs less including p&p than some of the sources for ceramic where i live (outside the us).

I was going to just use it for a inspirator element, but now (thanks to your idea) i'm also going to wrap a small amount around the screens to prevent dripping.

I just got it in and I've tried it a couple times.
it actually is in the process of replacing both the copper and the evaporating-dish but I'm still working the kinks out of it.
The material is really cool. It looks like fleece or dense fluff but you can put a torch lighter on it and it is just like *trollface* as it stays completely inert in the heat.
It is really amazing at insulating. I started with a ~1/2 inch clump and much of the DMT in the middle would not get hot enough to vaporize. My 1/4 inch fluff works pretty well but it really needs to be torched from the non-DMT side to get it to vaporize.
It is really cool cause it starts out orange (jimjam DMT) then it chars and turns black then one all the DMT is gone it is literally as white as before.

So does this let air pass through or do you just pack it loosely to let air flow round it? Does indeed sound pretty interesting.

Not sure how well that'll work, honestly. SWIM's had rotten experiences with loose fiber blocking air passage and possibly particle inhalation; this is why he packs it tight for his designs and doesn't pass air through a fiber mesh in any of them. He also doesn't feel that bringing the product in close contact with the fiber is sensible since it's such a poor conductor (but a great insulator) that it may just sap heat from the chamber or provide a haven for product to escape the heat and result in incomplete vaporization.

In any case, a new addition to the Inspirator mkII's design is on the way which may be adeqaute for double-duty as a replacement for both the plug and the cork. As a spoiler, one basically wads up a tiny bit of heat-treated copper scrubpad and encases it in a pipe screen. As a cork, it may protect the product from the flame better than the rolled up screen core could (without fiber of course). As a plug, it may be simpler to prevent drippage (though technique and purity of product overcome this in the standard design) but also act as a carrier similar to what's demonstrated in the OP. By coincidence, this idea is a hybrid of q21q21's idea and the old method I've mentioned of simply scooping up material with a screen formed into a shell.
