Swim just added fasa to the xylene pull and a little water got in just after the fasa - what should swim do ?

okay see the way i saw it was that the dmt fumarate will be disolved in the water as it is made. the fasa and the water will mix - the salt forming is taken much longer than usual - how on earth would one separate the water from the xylene, acetone, water mix ?

Acetone will mix with the water AND xylene but water will not mix with xylene, so...

you have:

1) xylene with acetone and fumaric acid plus some dmt fumarate precipitating.
2) water (that sinks in the bottom of the container containing the xylene) with traces of acetone and dmt fumarate and fumaric acid.

So, just wait for the precipitations to finish, get the water out and freebase whatever it has inside. (acetone will evaporate and fumaric acid will get salted and you'll get rid of it when it reacts with whichever base you choose to freebase it)

Or,

do as jorkest suggested

okay i dont even think it is going to be neccicary - precip completed - swim gathered the needle like xtals in 1 pile and the powder like ones in another pile - swim is thinking that perhaps the needle like ones are the xtal form of dmt fumarate and the powder stuff the jungle fumarate. seperating them was easier than one would think.

they will be converted to freebase separately to test swims theory.

pix will be posted here tomorrow.

okay so some epson salts were baked for 2 hours at 200 celcius - there is a change, its clumps of baby powder looking stuff that dusts up the air only slightly - swim crushed it and put it back in the oven - a portion was placed into acetone and the acetone became milky - this was just a test run, it is still milky an hour or so later - hopefully this will not be the case when it is finished in the oven.
the fumarate in the big bowl had 20ml acetone added to it in a test tube, so did the smaller pile.
the smaller pile and acetone is not as milky as the bigger pile - how long is it usual to wait for the fumarates to disolve and the remaining carbonate to sink/how long will it remain milky - its been about an hour now on that too.

okay the first pull of the small pile yeilded this - after a small sample was sampled. the naptha pull will be done soon.
a half matchhead sized piece was smoked and its very active - i think a lot of jungle as 6 naptha pulls were done and this is the third xylene pull.

okay so i dont know if anyone is even reading this maybe im wasting my time posting but here is what swim did - the 2 piles of freebase from the first pull on the anhydrous magnesium/fumarate salts/sodium carbonate were added together - the larger pile when evapped looked much the same as the small pile.
pulled with naptha and freeze precipped - this was the result

Nice!

Glad swiy is testing this process out. SWIM will be starting a FASA extraction tonight, meaning that he will do the Xylene pulls tomorrow night. SWIM appreciates the information.

Haha, definitely.

SWIM just added FASA to the Xylene and the solution is CLOUDY!!! (5 pulls of acid-water from 250g of MHRB....swim's very happy). He just hopes that the crystals eventually settle.

there will be a pile of xtals - nice looking ones in about half an hour - please take as many pix as u can caus swim has only tried pulling with xylene after many naptha pulls have been done and swim intends to do xylene pulls first on his next batch.

Will do.

This is curious though. SWIM just tried shaking violently (as instructed..), a bunch of yellow-looking crystals just crashed out all over the sides, and they won't come off!. It looks like yellow rock candy. These guys will definitely need a few acetone washes.

Swim's just hoping that they don't stick to the sides, it's going to be quite lame getting them out, the only thing swim can probably do if this is the case is just add water and start basifying....we'll see though.

Just another note, swim's plan was to do 5 100ml pulls of Xylene, and do a 6th test run to see if there were more alkaloids....the thing clouded up like a mofo, ugh. And swim was just getting ready to go to bed.

E.C.

Update: SWIM decided to touch the yellow rock-candy on the sides toward the top of the jar....they feel sticky and semi-hard (like dried hot-glue). SWIM's thinking that he will combine the xylene in the jar with the next several pulls so that everything doesn't end up all over the sides like that, and he'll just freebase that stuff (more crystals have formed all over the sides of the jar btw, look like salt).

if u let the fumarate salts dry properly they wont stick - its like salt - easily knocked off. i assume u did this in a bottle ?
