I've smoked my Changa many times in a small Glass Pipe or vaped it in the GVG.
When i used the GVG i loaded more than 'one Dose' Changa, took a Bic-lighter and vaped
the Changa for 3-6 Peaks in a row. So far....
At my last Changa Session i used for the first time a four-fold Torch lighter.
As soon as i tried to vape 'some' Changa, the full 3-6load ignited/exploded in one
big monster-hit!!
It happened so fu**ing fast - i couldn't stop and inhaled the whole 3-6Dose in this Monster-Hit.
'too fast - ego loss - white light - all mysteries unveiled - "GOD-HEAD" - too far out for a ordinary mortal, in one word
EPIC !!

Is this the way it works with the Torch lighter? Should the Changa not just vapourize in the GVG? It ignited and burned to ash
in a split of a second.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

It shouldn't ignite in the GVG however when the flame is too hot or you heat the ceramic filter too much it happens.
Smell like tea n,n spirit !

Plant material (or anything, really) can autoignite even if there is no direct flame, given a certain temperature is reached.

This will be a function of how strong the lighter flame is, how close it is to the bowl, and the height of the changa in the bowl.

So, while things can ignite, they shouldnt, otherwise there's no point in having a vaporizing pipe. So put the fire on a lower setting, or keep it farther away from the GVG.. The ideal is that it takes a few seconds for any vapour to start appearing. the way to use the GVG with a torch lighter is described in the FAQ and in the sticky thread in the welcome area.

Glad you had an epic experience though Smile

Thank you for your replies, will work again with the Big-Lighter.
It gives me more control of the vapouring process.

EPIC, but very terrifying too! Shocked
I like a bit more control to jump into the uncontrollable! Wink

When you say “four-fold” torch lighter, do you mean one of those lighters with 4 flames? If so, that’s much too hot to use with the GVG. As you learned, the material will not be properly vaporized with so much heat, and it’s very likely that you’ll crack the glass top piece.

yeah it was a four-flame Torch lighter. Now i know it's too much heat - the GVG is still intact
and i'm much wiser! Embarrased
I am still amazed that i was able to inhale Changa for about 3-6 Full Sessions in one Hit.

I'm wondering if you evaped, 100%, all of the solvent used in the process of making it.

Heating it caused rapid vaporization of any IPA or solvent left in the material, sooo ..... contained in the GVG bowl it had no where to go and FLASH!

I have had this same thing happen to me before.

Sounds like what you are describing to me.

maybe not.....

maybe?

possibly this as well, but a torch is no tool for vaping (least of all a 4-jet torch)

The Changa i used was about 2months old, so the solvent is evaped long ago
and i used it for many sessions.
I know now that there was way too much heat with the Torch lighter and
i will return to the Big-Lighter.

A single-flame torch lighter that isn’t turned up too high and that is held high enough above the bowl to properly regulate temperature is an ideal tool for vaping (at least with the GVG).

There's no point in saying that as it isn't true.
Normal torch lighter is perfect for a vaporizer pipe.

When I first got my GVG I ignited my dose of changa using a bic lighter. Its all about getting the temp of the flame and distance from the ceramic filter right, regardless of weather its a torch or a regular bic style lighter.

Lay off so much heat next timeSmile

Obviously though with a bic it will be much easier to get soot buildup on the ceramic filter(I think there's no soot from torch lighter)... And it will take longer to reach the same temperature most likely.

The Vapor Genie people actually recommend you use a torch lighter to burn off any soot buildup. So not only does it not create soot, it also will get rid of any that's already there from previous Bic use.
I am seriously making all of this stuff up. No, really.
