Initial experiment with the tincture was a semi-success. I dosed ~3 dropperfulls (unsure the ml per dropper) in three doses. Sublingual dosing with 95% ethanol is perhaps the most painful way I have used to get a molecule into my bloodstream, but after 30 seconds or so the saliva cuts it way down and it doesn't burn much. The bottom of my tongue did get leathery and my teeth did turn green for a while. I held each portion of the dose between five and ten minutes, after which there was too much saliva for me to hold, and I would slowly swallow.
Effects weren't extreme, but were clear and unmistakably s. divinorum. I had a distinct body-high, which while feeling very saliva-like was fairly pleasant - as opposed to my usual "top layer of skin removed, pinpricks and itching" saliva body-high. I felt somewhat euphoric, also the opposite of the usual dysphoria, fear, and confusion of smoking extracts or the infinitely existential neutrality of smoking dried leaf. No visuals to speak of, open-eyed or closed. The setting was in our tent, on the beach in northern california with a cold rain outside, at nighttime while my wife and our friend and our dogs slept. I was warm and comfortable, near the warm presence of my wife but with quiet and darkness for the Eyes of the Sheperdess.
It was very interesting and certainly warrants another go. My first impressions of this route of ingestion are positive, from the threshold (or the foyer, perhaps?) looks more hospitable than the realm entered by the Smoke. I could feel a healing presence there, perhaps that elusive goddess I've been hearing about for years but never seen the slightest evidence for,
over there. In fact, the smoking path and especially the extracts seem almost non-populated, just gravity wells and shifting blocks with horrifically incessant repeating patterns... but subligually, Salvia seemed almost
intelligent! Ah, so this is the Salvia Divinorum I have been reading about and never meeting!
After this tincture is gone, I don't think I'll be messing with salvia until I am settled down and have a Medicine Garden of my own to grow it in. I don't care about extracting it, not my line of curisoity
per se, but She's a beautiful plant and quidding fresh leaves is probably the best way to go.
