Asked this in Chat earlier and got a good reference to continue with here: https://www.erowid.org/c...haracters_drug_use.shtml

Unfortunately majority of those names I don't recognize, and why they're famous I have no idea. That and it seems to be all drug usage, not just psychedelics.

I am lucky to have a mother who is extremely open minded. Despite being a devout Christian, everything I learned about tolerance and acceptance of others and their beliefs I got from her. She's never done an illicit substance in her life, so she still doesn't quite understand my decisions. She is glad to hear that I believe they help me emotionally/spiritually though, even if they aren't in line with her beliefs. She doesn't think it's wrong, but does tell me to be careful due to the legality of it all.

She has always been proud of my academic accomplishments and of my career. So in an effort to assuage some of her fears as far as my usage of psychedelics go, I'd like to give her a list of people who are well known, successful, and have made great efforts in promoting the scientific progress of humanity.

Of course, due to the nature of the discussion, I don't want to tell her about people whose scientific progress is related to the drugs themselves, as that doesn't help. Drug users progressing the science of drug use seems a little... obvious.

People like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc, are who I'm primarily looking for. Artists/Musicians etc, I'm not concerned about either.

If anyone has any information to assist me with this discussion, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Carl Sagan, Kary Mulls, Ralph Abraham. That's all I can think of at this moment.

John C Lilly, Ann & Sasha Shulgin, Albert Hoffman, Oscar Janiger, pretty sure Albert Einstein did some drugs, although not sure which. Tim Leary as well, not many people know that Leary created many software programs for improving brain function naturally and lots of children's learning software programs that nothing to do with drugs other than from what he learned about how the human brain works because of his entheogenic experiences. Hope those help.

You might also want to seek out and read the Dead Sea Scrolls and specifically a book called The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross, bot from author John Allegro. Allegro was a devout Christian who was granted the right to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls and through the information he uncovered there became convinced that ancient Christianity is actually nothing like we have been led to believe, and was actually based around the regular use of magic mushrooms.
Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous.

SWIM (a fictional character based on other people) either obtained a license for said activity, did said activity where it is legal to do so, or as in most cases the activity is completely fictional.
