Sorry to interrupt the brunt spice discussion, but I had another question.

Is it normal for the glass funnel portion of the GVG to not be completely horizontally flush? Like if I look at my GVG from the face, the glass funnel portion under the screens is at like a 25 degree angle. I just recently noticed mine is askew after tapping out several cashed changa bowls. There's no way I could I have jostled the glass funnel portion out of place right?

If I'm following you, then yah, there's no way that you could have jostled the area that the screens set on. It should be pretty close to flat but it could have been a flaw when they made it.

Could you provide a pic to help illustrate what you're referring to and maybe we can compare?

I doubt if would hinder it's effectiveness even if it were a bit off angle provided you were using a proper mesh screen to contain the spice.

I don't have a camera. But here is a pic illustrator which portion of the GVG I'm talking about. I'm referring to the glass "funnel" section under the screen. Mine is skewed so that the loaded area is not level relative to the table it sits.

You must be right though. It must be a quark to my GVG. Because upon further inspection, I'm quite sure that the glass funnel portion is part of the glass piece itself and couldn't be knocked out of place by ashing the bowl.

Thanks for the help. I let my paranoia take over after I took a once over with my pipe and notice the oddity. I shouldn't doubt the GVG if it works I suppose haha.

The Green Entity got a classic VG for now, he's got a GVG on the way. He tried it once with 8 screens and it did not seem to work that well.

He tried another time with 3 screens on the bottom, then some pau darco herb and 4 screens on top with a bic lighter and 1 small hit kicked his ass into hyperspace like he wasn't even expecting because he was just trying to get the smoking technique down.

He tried again with a 3 screens on the bottom, a copper scrubber disk then 1 screen on top with a torch lighter. He got a couple of hits that looked a bit smokey. Doesn't know if he held the lighter too close and burned it or it leaked through. Didn't work so well that time.

He now has two screens on the bottom with a liquid pad on the top. He has not tried it yet. He has not seemed to have good success with the torch lighter and doesn't know if he's using it right.

Does one want the flame of the torch to be just barely above the top or down in there a bit?

Obviously it's a bit harder with the classic VG too because he cannot see the ceramic to see when it is glowing.

He will check back with me when he has tried the liquid pad.

I guess I'll leave this up in case anyone has the same panic attack, but the information needed is in the FAQ on vaporgenie.com

I have looked through the threads rather throughly and have not seen this issue addressed. The ceramic screen in the top piece of my genie was observed "wiggling." I looked at it closely and could see that the screen was loose in the top piece and there is a small copper retaining ring setting loosely on top of it. I poked it slightly to discern the issue and cannot figure out how it was originally. Would someone mind posting a pic of their top piece; closely enough to see the height of the filter in the top piece as well as the location of the retainer ring? I'd like to think this is something I can rig back to operational use without having to return the piece, but I need a little help remembering how it is "supposed" to be.

BTW this was noticed after a journey that... well just didn't live up to what SWIM has come to expect from the GVG. There was additionally a lot of runoff/rundown that SWIM had not seen previously. SWIM fears the screen height may be rather critical in the usual GVG success.

Truly no idea how this happened, the GVG has been handled with care, and while admired often, not futzed with in the least.

I'm not sure how to post pics on here, but SWIY should see what I'm talking about in SWIY's GVG.

Working to get the retaining ring around the filter and then pushed in place seems nearly impossible (unless maybe SWIM had watchmaking experience)

Thanks for reading... Open to ideas or suggestions.

First off, the retaining ring is brass, not copper (not that it really matters), and it doesn’t wrap around the ceramic filter – it sits on top of it.

The ceramic filter fits in the very bottom of the top piece. The bottom of the ceramic filter is almost flush with the bottom of the glass.

If the ceramic filter is in place, then all you need do is push down on the brass ring a bit to ensure that the filter is snug. Even if it wobbles a bit, that shouldn’t be a problem. The main purpose of the retaining ring seems to be to keep the filter from falling out, not to keep it snug.

DO NOT try to put the ring around the ceramic filter. The ceramic is somewhat brittle, and you may damage it if you try to put the ring around it.

You say you got a lot of runoff. What do you use to hold your spice? I use a thin copper “scrubby” disc, and have never had any problems with runoff.

Didn't see the point in making a new thread.
Considering buying a GVG, have yet to try DMT. I don't yet understand how to work with or smoke through a GVG, but just quickly, will you still get the same amount of DMT that you desire, if you were to smoke it through a bong?

Apologies if this has been covered.

You'll need LESS material when using the GVG. If in a bong you needed 50mg, try 20-30mg in the vaporgenie.

Do you guys/gals find that when using changa in the gvg you usually end up burning/smoalking it anyway?

For pure spice administered in one toke i'd say hands down its the best device, but with changa i always end up smoking it, after vaping a few tokes some of it's brown, some of it's still green... so i just burn it!

I reckon i'm just going to smoalk changa in a pipe as i do it so rarely, and save the GVG for pure spice.

The changa will sometimes ignite by accident, but not very often, for SWIM.

Bufo changa, OTOH always ignited before getting hot enough for the bufo to vape, so she just gave up and started using a bong for it.

This is what I don't understand about changa, and bongs. Don't you just burn the spice? After a year and half of being associated with dmt, I still don't understand how it's possible to do changa or use a bong, without burning the spice.

DMT has a higher combustion temperature than most (all?) enhanced leaf ingredients. They can burn at a temperature high enough to vaporize the spice without burning it. This is why people use a sandwich method with bongs - the DMT will only burn if the flame comes into direct contact with it, so the top layer prevents that.

I'm not sure if I'm saying what you already expressed, but here's what I think is happening:

What’s probably happening is that the hot orange-glowing part of the leaf is providing heat to the DMT downstream from the air-flow and causing it to vaporize before the advancing “zone of combustion” approaches. By the time the combustion moves downstream a bit, the DMT in that zone has already vaporized. DMT seems to always move from hot regions to cooler regions if it can, so the DMT stays one step ahead of the combusting leaves. Make sense?

If you will buy the VG you will be soon saving money for GVG, trust me.

GVG has many benefits:

-Long tube to cool the vapor and it doesn't get to your lungs right away so you have longer time to "fill and inhale the pipe"
-Easy to clean(acetone)
-Seeing the vapor coming and ending, knowing when the full dose have been inhaled(IMPORTANT)
-The pipe feels and looks perfect for such important matter as hyperspace travelling.
-Ceramic filter is removed by pulling, not screwing it in like VG
-You can see how the tube looks inside(DMT condensation), and if it's time to clean it
-The bowl isn't so close to your eyes as VG, this makes more comfortable looking at the bowl while it's being lighted with torch lighter.
-You can see the ceramic filter glowing red
-Easy inhalation of full dose in one hit

These are all very very important aspects for me when going for a journey and therefore I strongly recommend getting GVG instead of VG!
VG delivers, I've tried it, but it's missing alot from the GVG and its more difficult to get the full dose in one hit!

Some of its melting and going down inside the GVG. DMT is pretty finicky to vaporize, even when you get it perfect sometimes you'll have re-crystallization of left over vapors, but your collection looks a bit more dense. Mine may start to looks like that after about 10-15 uses with 25-35mg each use.

Are you using a torch lighter?
Are you getting the DMT in the center of the copper disc? If towards the sides I find it tends to melt and run down the hole before it vaporizes.

Even with both of the above, I find sometimes this happens to me as well, try adjusting the copper pad thicker or thinner. If its too thick you won't be able to get air through and it'll melt and run down. Too thin it'll fall down before you can vape it. Even the GVG requires a bit of skill to get perfected, if only the local adult school classes offered DMT Vaporization 101 Smile

This is not unusual at all and reflects the DMT vapor condensing on the glass. This can be reduced a little by having the GVG warmed up a little before vaporizing, but this isnt really necessary.Simply 'wash out' the GVG with a little acetone/IPA and either allow the solvent to evaporate leaving some DMT behind, or alternatively put some leaf material into the IPA/acetone 'wash' and allow to evaporate to have yourself some enhanced leaf.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I think he is getting a bit more condensation then he should be for a single use vape. When I get a good vape I usually have minimal to no condensation at all, but usually there is a minor amount, but far less then what he shows.

On the note of the acetone/IPA and evap, have you ever successfully done this? I've tried a few times, i'm always left with a blackish/brown sludge, thats quite tacky and will never crystallize or remotely harden. I've not quite have the desire to use this stuff and have just thrown it away.
