I just realized your problem carrierwave.
You placed this back in the fridge after basifying? This is unnecessary, freebase harmalas are insoluble in water, you are able to filter them out immediately after addition of the base.
The refrigerator is only needed when you are precipitating your harmala hcl SALT, during the manske procedure.
also, you don't need lye for precipitation of freebase harmalas, sodium carbonate works fine.
I hope this extraction can be salvaged, 14 pH can be rather harsh on freebase harmalas for an extended period of time
