Hello, i am currently taking twO antibiotic medications for a dog bite to the mouth, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a negative interaction between MAOI and these medications? I am penicillin-allergic so they give me less often prescribed antibiotics, in this case clindamycin and ciproflocacin.

Dog bite to the mouth?! Ouch! I am sure some of the more medical savvy nexians will chime in, but there was a thread recently discussing a bad reaction from someone smoking changa while on Amoxicillin. Not sure if it was concluded that it was because of the MAOI in the caapi leaf or if it was just a bad reaction to the antibiotics themselves. There is also a thread on the ayahuasca forums discussing the same thing and someone says it should be safe, as long as he didn't drink it everyday. Not sure how sound that advice is though.

Clindamycin has no adverse interaction with MAOIs; quinolines such as ciprofloxacin also have no adverse interaction with MAOIs BUT they can inhibit the metabolism of one particular 5HT1 agonist zolmitriptan which is used for migraines.Im not aware of any interaction with 5HT2 agonists, of which DMT is one.But it would probably be sensible to finish the cipro and leave several days before drinking any aya.

Penicillins do not have any adverse interactions with MAOIs; Ive read the thread that DoingKermit refers to and the reaction is not an adverse penicillin-MAOI interaction.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
