in this double row: 18 month old torches grown from seed.this is the new auto watering system and new containers (20x20cm). i presume that this guys are going to grow insanely from now on with full sun, bigger container and location change (somewhere in the desert)

epic exposure
are the seedlings acclimatized to that much sun?

some spiecies do better in full sun than others
ime, most plants sold as or called torch get a bit yellow (not as fat and blue) in full sun

in full sun, additional micro nutrients(cal, mag, iron, etc), and nitrogen will be needed

they were aclimatized during spring (now it is summer here) before with a net that would filter the sun partially and after with full sun.
my torches are fat and a bit narrow by the neck, they are dark green and show mainly a 7 rib pattern.they show better resistence to sun than my other cacti.bridgesiis that cant be seen in the picture, they are by the end from which the pic was taken(garden is a square U) they are receiving sun from 14:00 on, they are pale green and have a 6 rib pattern, less thorns in each aerole.in the oposite end in the single row that can be seen are my pedros, 4-5 plants in each 7lt. container.they grow slower and in the early months conditions were not that favorable to them (torches were kept during winter under a 250 cfl).eventually they will get their own container.they get full sun until 15:00.some (the smaller ones) of them are suffering from the brutallity of the sun, but i hope they will survive (pedros).i wont be there all the time, its a vacation home.as for food i give them biobloom by biobizz, any recommendation?.irrigation program is set to 10 minutes 3x a week during summer.medium is 50% perlite and 50% soil.

This garden kicks ass. I can't wait to germ my seeds I got from Icaros, and hopefully my garden will be as successful as this one.

I'm thinking I will be growing it in some compost and sand.

as long as the 10 minutes of water gets them wet, it should be ok... when i lived in a hot climate i needed to water some plants daily(small pots, big plants...) and with a fast draining mix they might need every other day watering once established.

i'll recomend a fert with a high N rating, i did a quick google of biobloom, and it looks good, but never saw its npk ratio

I'm jealous. Are you in a location to leave them out year round?

Beautiful!!
Step forward into your cave. That's right. You're going deeper into your cave. And you're going to find, your power animal...

Imagine your pain as a white ball of healing light. It moves over your body, healing you. Now keep this going, remember to breathe, and step forward through the backdoor of the room. Where does it lead?
