So, let me preface this by stating that I really like changa... But it has been tearing my lungs up! I can vape spice with abandon, smoke regular tobacco etc with no issues. I can also smoke harmalas with no probs... But something about the combo of pyrolylized spice and harmalas is getting to be brutal. WTF?

What method do you use for utilising your changa? I find that its not too brutal on the lungs if smoked in a small (ie 15-20cm tall) glass bong with water in it.I also find that inhaling the smoke with a concerted effort to inhale slowly and not over-torching it also seems to make it a little kinder on the lungs.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Try 10mg harmalas sublingualy, then vape. In my opinion, this is even superior to changa in its effects. Not very convinient though...

I have some changa I made with mullein as the main component along with caapi leaf and a few others.
I notice when I smoke this stuff it clears up my lungs. People who have smoked it with me said the same thing.
Only time I feel "torn up" is after trying to bong a mountain of freebase and burning a lot of it. Try mullein?

I have some mullein changa around, that stuff burns like acid too. I have been smoking through a pipe or rolled with standard issue papers when using changa, due to the convenience/portability factor. I have used a bong and that hurts less, but still ouch.

The thing is, I can vap spice all day long with minimal chest congestion/pain, but the moment I try it with the changa (in he same device) I get the asthma clamps. I dunno, an idiosyncrasy of my physiology?

Why not just take harmalas first, either orally or sublingually, and then vaporize spice? Same effect without having to inhale so many irritants.

I have tons of mullein I harvested from plants I found..I tried to smoke it but honestly the stuff irritated my lungs more than helped anything. I dunno maybe it works for some people or maybe I just need to try it again..I did brew a tea with it though and it was nice to drink with some honey.
Long live the unwoke.

Mullien is an expectorant. It makes you cough up nasty stuff in a good way. In other words Its a good burn. really though swim looks at all of the methods and things people do straying from the super simple ways of making spice and changa and just wonders how some one could make you cough, or irritate your lungs much compared to spice. Swims changa is like smoking a herbal tea your grandma used to make. Swims not spewing hubris here but really look at your methods. How are you making the spice? What herbs are you using and what solvents are you using to infuse your changa? Adapt your methods until you get the desired results and pay attention to those here who have perfected their methods.

Using an ethanol evap to make the changa. God, I hate to switch to IPA or other solvents. The base herb I am using is tobacco, that actually seems to work OK... But not great. I tried mint too, and it felt like my bronchioles were burning.

Spice is extracted via STB, but I know that's not the problem since I can vape that all day long and breath easy. Must be something to do with my lungs, I will keep experimenting.

I would think it's the base herb. Try another base herb.
