That's the question. The quote comes from a Jack Johnson song..."Gone".

For me the answer is absolutely no. There is nothing more important than my time. What do others say?

Really?

I procrastinate a lot. I probably value other peoples time higher than my own. I'd say my top concern would be the people I love.

I suppose it does sound selfish on first read doesn't it? But if I don't value my time the highest then there wouldn't be a me to put other people first as well.

Does this mean I wouldn't jump in front of a bus to save a loved one? Of course I would and I guess in that sense I would not be valuing my time the highest... But I think the general essence of the quote is that life is short. Should we really be focused so intently on things like careers, money and power? Of course life is a balance and we have to make ends meet, but at what cost...at what cost to our time.

For me the quote really just drives home the nagging question. How much of your time on this planet are you willing to trade for X. Were X can be what ever we are faced with or tasked to do.

I guess I can see the selfish aspect of it as well...but mostly I just see the inspiration behind it!

What I do with my time concerns me more than the time itself.
That could, however, be a different way of saying the exact same thing.

I got all the time in the world to spare.
"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. It goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride." - Bill Hicks

IT IS ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT WE ARE WILLING TO EXPOSE OURSELVES OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO ANNIHILATION THAT WE DISCOVER THAT PART OF OURSELVES THAT IS INDESTRUCTIBLE.

Waiting for death to come. Although not so dramatic as it might seem. I am enjoying my life quite often. Balance between means is indeed important, as luckily i have found out about early in life. Like they say: life is all about priorities.

State of death is not really of my concern though i do not like the procespect of dying. As i dont like the prospect of going to the dentist perhaps, but, given the uncertainties about dying, it would be more like when i dont know (just walking around) when the dentist starts to drill in a tooth. and that is just horrible. Can you imagine a drill-happy dentist suddenly jumping at you?
Or a car?

I'm immortal now, so time doesn't concern me any more.

(Long-term experiment to see if a personal belief can shape reality, or personal biology at least! Takes a lot of the worry out of life too Pleased )
Everything I write is fictional roleplay. Obviously! End tribal genocide: www.survival-international.org Quick petitions for meaningful change: www.avaaz.org/en/
End prohibition: www.leap.cc www.tdpf.org.uk And "Feeling Good" by David D.Burns MD is a very useful book.

Funny you bring this up joe!

I am obsessed with my time. I always feel rushed, like there's never enough time.

I'm on my phone right now so I don't really have time to look up and paste links but here's what I've found with my research into time acceleration, or the "quickening" as some refer to it:

For thousands of years, the earth put off a pulse of like 7.2 cycles per second. In the early 80s it started to speed up. Now, it's 12 something cycles per second. Well, our bodies are in tune with mom. Now, she's putting off a day's worth of cycles in roughly 16 hours. So, with the perception difference between our bodies and minds, it feels like there are only about 16 hours in a day.

Quite a difference! My girl actually linked me to this thread when she saw it because she knows how obsessed with my time I am.
embrace your nothingness...it's all you are...

If you're immortal, time should concern you a great deal. It is imperative for you that humanity develops some kind of inter-stellar mobility before this planet explodes for some reason or you'll be in for a looooot of floating around in space. And when you do land on some stellar body, you'll have a lot of time to explore it, too. Just sayin', I would definitely start thinking about time.

I like Alzabos reply-what we do with our time is probably more important than the time itself.

I think that many of us are not prone to consider our mortality in our normal day to day lives as perhaps we should and there must be several or more reasons for this. But the reality is that none of us can truly guarantee that this commodity we have been given will extend in its duration beyond now, although the betting man/woman in all of us plays the odds that it will.

Too many times Ive seen people previously fit and well who have had their allocated quota of time just trickle to zero with no warning.Like an hourglass painted black, the grains of sand inexorably fall but the beholder has no idea of what amount remains.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

My spiritual, physical, and mental health or my SYNERGY are of utmost importance or concern to me.

Without SYNERGY I am,

unable make the best of the time I have left in this life, in this body.

unable to give quality time, attention, and care to those I love.

I think that there is nothing worse in this life than wasted time. IMO efficient use of time comes when there is harmony in the spirit of man. This balance of spirit, mind, and body is what I refer to as SYNERGY.

I have had periods in my life when I was not present in my time. I was mentally and physically a wreck and spirituality did not exist. During those periods of my life, time stood still. I often wished that time would end.

At this moment I feel I have balance or SYNERGY. I enjoy every moment in time to its fullest.

Ice House. I agree with that completely. Life to me is more and more about living in the flow, or synergy as you say.

I personally find that when I control both grasping and aversion I'm a MUCH happier person. By neither grasping for things are running from things I find that I naturally end up in the flow. A state of mind where I'm both accepting and discerning of the world around me. I'm sure a lot of this is just getting older and wiser. To be sure I've certainly spent my fair share of time at the school of hard knocks and it was exactly where I needed to be at the time....of course I didn't realize it then!

BTW Great responses by everyone so far...I expected nothing less from my fellow nexians!

If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

The synergy thing is a big deal for me - it seems achieving a 'focus' depends on cleaning the mind of petty desires, becoming a bit minimalistic and having a good diet. When I quit smoking for the first time everything flowed so well for example... I'm interested too see just how much synchronistic life can get.

I'm concerned with the time of all those who waste it. The most silly, ludicrous and outright stupid videos on youtube have hundreds of millions of views - thinking of all the minutes wasted consuming outer thoughts :/ Terrifying that collectively people have spent my life time and more watching Hannah Montana or something. Stopping consuming and starting to create is a massive step forward for making use of time.

Find myself doing seemingly very little a lot of the time because I've not come to terms with my place in the world yet. Last exam was today, off for 4 months of sun! So time and what to do with it is heavily on my mind
