Peace to the nexus.

Would you care to share some of what you've written?

How did you first come across nexus and DMT?

Are you experienced in DMT? You say broad experience, how about listing some of the other substances that you've experienced? What are some things you've learned from entheogens?

Be a little more detailed with your past experiences, and feel free to share anything you want.

Welcome to then Nexus. Smile

I have experience with the spice, and some non-breakthru experience with the vapours. My entheogenic experience encompasses basically everything in the common and not-so-common range, including mixes deemed "courageous" by some. I did not linger in storytelling, as a exaustive essay about the teachings received would require as much space as the vedas (or other sacred text, pick your fave) and of course philosophical writing skills I probably do not have Smile

Dear ^^^_^^^,

welcome to the nexus.
The purpose of an introduction thread is so that we can get to know you, and you us, so that we can make initial contact and integrate you into this existing community. In order for this to work properly maybe you can indulge me and expound upon something like the questions below.

For example, questions that always interest me with people that do psychedelics are: what are your intentions when working with psychedelics? what is it you believe you gain from them or rather how is it you think you benefit from the experiences, or the cosmos benefits? What kind of work to you perform and in which environment do you like to apply psychedelics?
...

You don't have to write the Encyclopaedia Britannica, but a few words along these lines can't harm - or if you think of something else that will actually introduce yourself a bit more would also be nice.

In any case I hope you enjoy your stay in these parts of the virtual collective (aka the interweb)
Much love
Enoon

I have a specific goal of becoming a decent mystic and find that entheogen work is (of many) a very efficient mean of upgrading my spiritual skills. Of course I also indulge in more mundane purposes, like self-exploration, artisic perspective upgrade and aestethic bliss, but the spiritual purpose is indeed the dominant one.
Being extremely stable I have found satisfaction in a wide array of settings, from cloister to bacchanalia.

I can understand that finding the right words is difficult.
If you would have to be as brief as possible, how would you define spirituality and your spiritual ambitions in broad terms?

I do not think spiritual goals and/or ambitions, being metaphisical by definition, can be properly described with words Smile

I have a spiritual goal/ambition of being a better person to my friends and family. How is this metaphysical?

You sounds interesting, ^^^_^^^ (Bat?). It would be nice to hear more than a line or two about what you've written and some of your less metaphysical views on why you wish to seek with psychedelics and/or spirituality.

I think language is much more powerful than we give it credit for... All one needs is imagination to use it properly. One can express almost anything, is my hypothesis; it might not be in straight forward fashion with all things, it may need narrative and metaphors and symbols, it may need to work upon emotions rather than upon the rational thought processes, but all these things can be evoked by language. It's just matter of being able to apply it...

and yeah I agree with a1pha - less oneliners, more elaborateness Very happy

In fact, I do not consider that a spiritual goal. I consider that a practical goal that can (also) be pursued via spiritual means. Metaphisical goals do not relate with (even if indeed have a positive fall-out on) material reality.
(no squabble intended ^_^ just trying to be clear).

Well, traditionally, all metaphysics means is that it is beyond/after physics. It's actually a bit of a misnomer in that we didn't know what to call the works after Aristotle's "Physics", so, we named them after (meta) physics.

When I said that I have a metaphysical goal of being a better person I mean my soul, who I am, wishes to be better to those around me. This is not a science and beyond anything physics can describe. One might say this is an ontological pursuit in that I am searching for my own definition, the definition of those around me, and how these relate to one another. In understanding this I hope to improve my actions - a practical goal of a spiritual (metaphysical) quest.

Another application of this is causation. Learning how my actions effect the (material) world around me helps in my pursuit of being a better person. If I murder my neighbor then I will (likely) go to prison. If I use psychedelics then hopefully the effect of this will be a better understanding of myself and the world around me.

Both of these are using 'metaphysics' to understand/improve my life. Yes, with practical goals attached but viewed under the lens of metaphysics.

Indeed, but a problem in expressing certain concepts is exactly the moment where, for reason of concept intensity you have to switch to allegory. At that point, if you want to transmit the real thing, elaborate (if not literary) narration is mandatory, which is not always practical to do in a forum, where conciseness is praxis.

(@Enoon of course you know that certain feeling, common in intense sally experiences, where you feel all prepared, all now-you-ll-see-I-will-report-what-I-get and then when you are "there" you are just plain speechless. More: you perceive that words (at least our available set) are inadequate)

Can i conclude that in your view, spirituality is something that has no roots in the material world, yet is as real as the material world?
In what way would you say, is it different then from other things to wich this also aplies like say, 5+1=6 ?

Huh? Do you think you could explain this a bit more for us less educated?

It really would be nice to see something beyond one or two lines... But that's just me.

Well, I thought this being a welcome thread, it would not be fair to transform it in some sort of onthology&metaphisics debate where I am speaker ^_^ also, I feel I am here not to tell but to learn.
Yet, later on, if you and other users will still want to deal with it, I would be indeed interested and pleased to open – and participate to – a thread on the subject.

I meant, where does metaphysic's differ from other things that are real but not material, like math's?

Don't we best learn by examining our own beliefs?

Yes, it is a welcome thread - but one in which you started out by stating "Hope to share good information and wisdom with everybody."

Also, to be blunt, your welcome thread is lacking to say the least. An introduction essay is about finding out who you are and how you relate to the community. You gave us two sentences. I don't think it's inappropriate to ask for a bit more substance.

To make it short, metaphysics fall out from scientific demonstrability (i.e. scientific method). Anyway, my approach is gnostic (I believe enlightment can be obtained via knowledge).
