Exactly how long can you keep freshly cut chips in the freezer? No drying, just peeled, cut, stuck in a ziplock bag and chucked in the freezer.

Does one follow classic foodstuff/freezer protocol (6-9 months)? Or could you stil brew a tea from those without risking food poisoning after that period?

If not so, can it still be extracted without the risk of possible contamination? SWIM's got like 80 cm of torch wich have been resting in the freezer for quite some time now and was asking himself these questions. Might as well throw it out here.

Anyone any ideas or experiences on the subject?

And that was without a zip-loc.

That's an account of dried cactus, SWIM's wasn't dried. If it were dried SWIM wouldn't give previously stated ponderings the time of day. SWIM thinks he's just gonna let the chips thaw and check the old-fashioned olfactory way if they're off, and commence drying if they don't smell too weird. Light a candle for SWIM, it would suck big-time if he had to ditch his batch.

The oven at a low setting would work for this, no? nvm, He'll do a search later.

other than freezer burn the chips should be fine fresh in the freezer for years.

if the chips are for tea, vac seal them, and freeze. or dry them out, low oven temp is fine, 220*f or less
