Woah another member from Ohio. Hello :] I enjoy your attitude! I'm new myself, but hopefully it'll be cool to get to know some people. Truth is a long and tedious journey, and breaking out of this Matrix isn't always the easiest, but it's always good to see the truth.

It's a journey, alright. Sometimes it gets dark. Sometimes it gets overwhelmingly bright. Sometimes it fluctuates back and forth. Confusing as hell at first. Then, when we start to realize what we really are, this feeling of nostalgia and relief sweeps over us and we start to feel at home. I'll tell you what, it's most definitely worth it. We have such ENDLESS possibilities. It's just so devastating the way so many people are brainwashed by their cultures. I want to reach out to everyone that I possibly can. Glad to have met a fellow friend, though, most definitely.

I know it's scary. People don't notice the power they have. It's so outrageously intense to some though that I think that they just shun it out, sadly. It's sad to see that some people get so sucked up into this false reality, staying sad, when they just can teach themselves some Love, Light, and Laughter. Someday we'll all get it, I believe!

People get so sucked up into MTV, AKA reality show central. They get this idea of what life is supposed to be like, and then forget to actually live their lives for themselves. They never get past the programming they received in the beginning of their existence.

Put them in the Matrix and they'll never question their reality. It is what it is, right? NO QUESTIONS.

Way to live the false life.

I know! That way of thinking aggravates me, like the idea of war. People say 'that's just the way it is'

It's only that way due to the way of thinking. We are the creators and destroyers of reality. Keep the people from realizing, and you've got yourself a slave race.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT?? Me thinks we are all doing it to ourselves and then collectively to each other for a reason. The slavery aspect may seem compelling but in the end I don't think this is the real reason behind it. If you've had your share of *bad* or dark trips (whether on psychs or otherwise) you'll begin to realize that unveiling your self is scary as hell. Hell literally resides inside and much like in Dante's epic story you have to pass through them first before you can realize that heaven also resides inside (I apologize for using christian symbols here, please feel free to replace them with whatever mythologocial concepts you are more comfortable with).
And finally even when you've passed Hell you don't just leave it behind, but rather you come to know it as the part of you that it is, it's jaws always gaping, it's darkness always luring. And heaven always glimmering in your eyes...
well I think it's just down right scary and finding some kind of distraction is ideal for turning away from what would otherwise make us shake in fear. People are scared to know their selves, and scared of the absolute freedom of their souls. We create prisons and confinements for our minds and souls so we have something to hold on to, lest we be sucked into the torrents of this wild and chaotic pandemonium out there.

That's my take on it.

Thanks for the welcome! And yes, it is true that they both are needed. But when one overpowers the other entirely, it turns into something that isn't going to end up well! There is no knowledge gained in PURE light, and only chaos will erupt in TOTAL darkness. It is all the same thing, but it needs proper balancing which the human race doesn't seem to understand! Give people proper balance, and they can actually stand up for their choices properly and understand their emotions. Overpower them and make them cower in fear, or go blind.
