Olympus Mon, did you get to try it out ? Does it work ?

The odours occasionally wafted from the laboratory were exceedingly strange. Sometimes they were noxious, but more often they were aromatic, with a haunting, elusive quality which seemed to have the power of inducing fantastic images.

zero nausea or purge. potency seems very high for the amount i drank. i dosed 60g white caapi with 35mg dmt freebase in citric acid. i usually drink 100g or more caapi.
i took them together otherwise i doubt id be able to type. its not a very strong ayahuasca experience but i was kind of expecting and wanting a light one.

i bet if i waited 20min and then drank the dmt it would be much stronger. i feel i have achieved more than full maoi and although the thought to drink a bit more dmt has crossed my mind i actually have a good amount of things to get done later today. im a morning drinker lately. not so scary plus you've already fasted for 10 or more hours. Laughing

a couple things i noticed. i felt this un decanted caapi almost instantly. i know what your thinking... impossible. thats what i always thought when ive heard others state this fact. although its not physically explainable something shifted immediately like the caapi just wanted to sound off during roll call. it was by no means a strong caapi feeling just felt like my whole body had this faint little hum, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

i also felt for the first time what others describe as the instant purge. it happened so fast i almost missed it but within 1 min of drinking my tiny 1oz. shot i could feel my stomach tighten. it went away in just another min or 2 but for a second there i was looking for my bucket just in case.
it was an actual physical response im sure of it because i dont really mind the taste of caapi.

i did have a single ass blast just a few min ago but nothing crazy. to be fair there was a ton of vine powder after i got done shredding my vine for this brew. in other words it was a good amount of plant material and i have mild I.B.S. so a loose stool was to be expected. this extra sediment reinforces the tannin bindings effectiveness to me because drinking all that sludge and feeling great is not normal for me. THIS WAS THE MOST SLUDGE IVE EVER DRANK AND I WAS shocked at how great i felt.

my initial thoughts are that this method really does take out the bad and leave all of the good.Very happy happily it seems there is no reason to loose potency when lessening nausea.

I will be having my first ayahuasca experience tonight, and won't mind a gentler introduction. So I will be trying this too. Very happy

I will have to wait a while before trying this. At least a week or two. I was about to make the aya last night, but chickened out. Went for vaping some crystals instead.

That was very strong though, and the idea of a mellower experience are even more compelling now. But I feel I need about a week or two to mentally prepare myself for aya.

Had the chance to try it. Did not take any ginger to get a feel for the nausea level.
It was pretty strong, unfortunatly, and the experience was dark at times, but nothing too bad.
I also got the feeling that i try to prevent nausea like i try to keep the bad stuff at bay, without having the courage to face the dark side of my life. At one point, the brew just said "Alright, let me show you some pretty pictures then..." or like Terence mckenna put it "Back to dancing mice".

Thanks harmalosa, doesn't sound much different from what Olympus describes here, except this thread is actually in reference to removing the Caapi tannins, not the Mimosa. I've tried both ways, and using the pre-cooked egg-white actually worked just as well and was more convenient in getting the egg out after it's done. Either way, it's a boon for reducing Caapi nausea.

I would look into replacing the gelatin tek with agar, if it's using animal products in general that bothers you. If it's just the eating that's a problem, well you don't eat the egg here.

Is it known whether agar performs the same? It doesn't work well as a substitute in jello shots, for example.

@Touche I don't think anyone has tried it before, but worth a try. It does contain casein, which pulls the tannins according to Dagger.

@elru I assume that it would look like looser accumulations near the same color as the eggs in OM's pictures. Caapi brew doesn't instantly clarify the way Dagger describes mimosa doing.

ya know elru you might want to ask around about that. ive never done a tannin binding on mimosa because you need so little of it. like 5-10g. so although mimosa may contain more tannins by weight you use so much less that the tannins usually arent an issue. caapi your brewing up to 100g or more per dose so the tannins are greater.
keep in mind this is just from my experience.

personally i liked your idea we chatted about of just drinking it "raw dog" Laughing haha! meaning no tannin binding and drink the sludge. its a powerful experience and one im so freaking grateful for. i dont want to do it all the time but im glad i went through the fire. now i bind, but im glad i experienced the humbling freeing blissful scary violent purge. i felt exorcised the next morning.

first of all, sorry to dig up an old thread here, secondly oly, thanks for writing this all up this is great!

I am currently brewing some acacia phlebophylla and after having some recent discussions with another member about how tannins can possibly trap alkaloids and cause problems in acacia extraction i have decided to try this method myself.. my question is whether you think there is any possibility of alkaloids becoming trapped in the egg white?

..without careful analysis, how can we say that it isn't largely tars/resins in olympus mon's photos, rather than tannins..but certainly tannins can contribute to nausea..
the OP is largely an oral ingestion issue, whereas acacian's query relates to extraction..
in acacias i don't think tannins bind to alkaloids, cause problems etc..
the most common acacia class of tannins (condensed tannins) are Flavan,3-4-diols, which which heat and acid turn into flavonoid like anthocyanadins..
as for hydrolizable tannins, i don't know that these are common in acacias (or mimosas) ..they break down into gallic and similar acids with heat/water..
also the often parroted 'tannic acid' has never to my knowledge been reported in acacia or mimosa..
acacia tannins are generally more like relatives of flavonoids..

i'd just like to see more science on this issue, rather than here say..

ps. acacian, tars/resins can become soluble/solid depending on fine level of pH or heat..this will interfere with extractions if simply following a formula
