So swim made some DMT over a year ago, he tried it like 5-6 times at generally small doses, all with great effects but a few weeks ago he smoked some more and about 3 hours later he became itchy all over, he also felt like spider webs or hairs were going across his skin, sometimes sharp pin pricks as well, twitches also would occur. Although after a few days he felt much better it has been about 3 weeks now and it still happens to some degree. He can only guess that it was contaminated in some way, he used Ronsonol which he later found out is not supposed to be so good, but then he nor anyone who tried his stuff (maybe 10 people) never had any adverse effects from it before. Since then a few people have tried using small amounts the same DMT with no bad effects, where as he seems to have an allergic reaction to even a tiny bit, like sitting in the same room as the smoke. Does this make sense to anyone? I have found a couple other people have similar complaints online, though they never went into detail and were smoking changa. He really is getting annoyed by the tickly itchiness that happens, it seems to come and go. He was also really starting to get into his explorations having great success using it ritually and is quite dissapointed, he wants to do more but does not want to cause nerve damage or something..

Thanks

A lot of newagers say that the spiders web feeling on your face is the sign of things from other dimensions trying to lock on to you, some also say its a sign of angels trying to communicate with you

Maybe an antihistamine before launching might help? But I would want to get to the bottom of the itchy sensation before trying to mask the sensation with benadryl. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. I'd try to find out whether it is caused by impurities in the spice or possibly an allergic reaction. Maybe some of the DMT has broken down into less pleasant compounds. But I'd try purifying the spice before taking antihistamines.

Strassman demonstrated that dmt triggers endorphin (which is an endogenous opioid) release and it is well known that a common side effect of most if not all opiates/opioids is itching, maybe that's the explanation.

these feelings happened with me quite often, even using food-safe chemicals and making a perfect extraction. It never lasted more than a few minutes with me though, definitely not there after the experience is over...

Do try to find a better solvent if you're worried independent of what effects you have..

In any case if its a temporary feeling during the effects, I would say its normal

I concur with Olympus Mon and Endlessness in that I often feel the sensation of liquidy/gooey spider webs on my face and body while on tryptamines, but only for the duration of the experience. Shortly after it ends the webs melt away.

Do you ever partake in mushroom journeys? If so, do you notice similar side effects?

If I were in your situation, my approach would be to recrystallize the old spice, preferably using clean heptane, and then slowly work up to a large enough dose that you either break through without discomfort or experience the webs again. If they last for an extended period of time after the experience has ended, you may well be having an allergic reaction of some sort. Maybe try a histamine, as Newfound_wonder suggested, while not deep in a spice journey to see if that helps. It could also be a psychosomatic response, I suppose. In that case a histamine could 'cure' you simply by the power of suggestion. After all, we're exploring some of the deepest crevices of the mind and I hesitate to think that anyone really understands what's happening here.

Whatever the case may be, I sincerely hope that you're able to get past this and start to have more comfortable experiences. Good luck to you, MC!

I used to get them all the time on mushrooms, now only occasionally. All tryptamines, in fact, have this effect (occasionally) on me. I call them the "SKITCHES"...

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

Well, on my experience with DMT I found that the universe is made up of a sort of a web. Maybe you are feeling this web, or it is a reminder of what you experienced. I don't know, but I wouldn't be to worried unless the itchiness is severe.

Well just to be clear, the symptoms started about 3 hours after swim came down, so its not like its part of the trip. Swim has done plenty of mushrooms and acid and such, mescaline and never had anything like it before, the closest thing to it would be a weird sensation on the skin with salvia but that always went away and was quite a different sensation. The fact that it is still going on after weeks definitely is annoying and suggests that it cant be the DMT itself staying in my body, i dont see how anyone could be allergic to DMT itself as its always in all of us. Swim did a healing ritual the other night and that seems to of helped a lot, though not completely. Maybe its psychosomatic, i dont know, swim did notice that the more he payed attention to it the more it would happen.
Looking into it further, ( i recognize how pretentious this sounds) but maybe its a kind of "kundalini syndrome" swim did seem to have a lot of the symptoms listed in that syndrome. Maybe swim just overwhelmed his nervous system with energy, swim does remember kind of shaking during the experience which never happened before, swim kind of felt like something was crstalizing in him but that the process maybe didnt go so well like as if there were impurities in the crsyalizing material that kept it from being uniform or crystal clear if that makes sense. If DMT is a raising of kundalini as i have heard it proposed quite a few times, then kundalini syndrome could definitely happen to people as it is said to be caused by sudden or unexpected kundalini arousel, DMT comes on fast no doubt.
Swim was always jittery and fidgety, uppers dont agree with him and a few months ago some bastard spiked his special k with meth (it was supposed to be his first k experience) and he ended up being awake for like 3 days, needing to drink moonshine in order to get to sleep, after that his nerves were a bit uneasy for some time, but when we smoked the DMT he felt very healthy.

I dunno, I just thought i would put that out there, swim is feeling better now, he thinks he will completely recover but he is uneasy about doing anymore if it means weeks of itchiness. He does have some DMT fumarate which he could convert which would be purer right?
