I am sensitive to RIMAs. On two occasions i have received powerful headaches from them.
For this reason i have all but sworn off the rue, and im not sure i feel safe with isolated harmaloids anymore.
A while back while camping i did changa ( passionflower changa, with a bit of damiana ) that was pretty saturated with harmaloids i had extracted from syrian rue. We did this on and off for a week, never more than 2 bowls in a day, probably consecutively for a couple days. This is not my normal level of use...we were camping, it was a beautiful place, i felt the call.
Anyway, i was stupid. ~4 days in i got a splitting headache after most likely eating some of our camping food which had tyramine in it. This instance wasnt so bad. I would have thought it was just a normal headache if i hadnt had one before...
When i first discovered DMT, i consumed rue seeds and smoked it consecutively for probably 5-6 days once. This was not a breakthrough dosage. However, after some physical exertion i experienced, eventually, a huge, quick-onset migraine that totally immobilized me. I was writhing in my bed, in a huge amount of pain. Im pretty sure i didnt experience migraine blindness from it but its possible. For a month after i had trouble exerting myself without getting a headache. I couldn't do jumping jacks, walk up stairs too long, ETC.
I didnt realize what it was initially. Went to the doctor, got prescribed medication.
Really, only caffeine fixed it. That pointed, to me, to the problem being vasoconstriction, because caffeine is a vasodilator. Then i realized it was the RIMAs.
It's been a year since then. I feel mostly the same, and i havent had a headache from rue besides those instances.
Thats not something smart to do up there, but RIMAs are safe for most people with careful use. But the reason i am posting this is because i have a question. Does anyone know if i could have gotten brain damage? I dont feel as if i have, but im really worried about it...
Come into the garden maud,
For the black bat night hath flown
and the woodbine spices are wafted abroad
and the musk of the rose is blown
