What's the main difference between Silene capensis, Calea Zacatechichi and Synaptolepis kirkii?

Has anyone here tried all of them?

I have Calea but it tastes like shit so I'd like to try the others. Any suggestions? What works best?

Funny you mention that tonight ...there's a cup of frozen calea tea in my fridge and I was thinking about thawing it out tonight....in about an hour actually. Never had it before, and am expecting it to be even more bitter than cactus. Maybe I'll reduce it down to like, a quarter cup, so it gets down the hatch before the taste buds kick in. I, too, am interested in members' comments on the dream herbs.

used to smoke calea joints before bed all the time.
"worked" at first and then never worked again so i quit trying.
could never get a tea down......oh gosh never.
if these plants are active, they sure are subtle.
i prefer the ones that say, "HELLO, I AM WORKING NOW!" Wink

From everything I've read and personal experience, silene capensis is superior and more consistent, and stronger in effect, AND doesn't taste bad, compared to calea. Silene capensis is superior. I don't know if anyone smokes it though. Not necessary anyway.

Calea tastes worse for sure. Maybe you could extract it and put it into gel-capsules. But its taste is not as bad as ayahuasca's taste can be Pleased

It seems like you need a somewhat bigger dose (several grams at least) when using Calea orally. Some friends have reported it to be nice and impressive for dreaming when combined with nicotine (as a patch).

Nicotine Pathes alone are said to give very vivid or lucid dreams. The only problem here is that you'll probably get addicted to the nicotine.

Yes, indeed, they do!

Addiction is not so much of a problem if you are a non-smoker. At least that's true for me. I use them once every few weeks or at most once a week for a few hours at night and there is no need to do it more often.

Being a regular gym-goer, I once took a supplement known as "ZMA", a blend of zinc, magnesium and Vitamin B6. You take them before bed on an empty stomach, supposed to increase testosterone levels or whathaveyou. Me and a friend tried them at the same time. About two weeks later, we were in the gym and my friend tells me about an extremely vivid and distubing dream that he'd had the night before, and that he has been having crazy dreams all week. He was surprised to learn that I'd been experiencing exactly the same thing, and had very intense and vivid dreams as well, and continued to do so whilst i was taking the supplements. I took them again about a year later and exactly the same thing happened. I looked up on the net and was delighted to see that many other people also report the same thing.

I can't really say whether they help with weight training or not, but to me, it doesn't matter, they are worth their weight in gold because I tell you what, you feel like you've slept for days the next day, they are an excellent sleep aid, but have the added bonus of inducing crazy crazy dreams - they are cheap as well and it's just vitamins so nothing artificial to worry about - I absolutely recommend giving them a try!

I've had the most vivid dreams ever from calea, although don't even bother making a tea, it is the most vile of vile teas. I used to smoke alot of weed but had to quit for probation so now the calea can really take effect. I usually smoke a bowl right before bed, and i have had as many as 5 vividly recountable dreams in one night. However, it will also give you some pretty intense nightmares as well, sometimes they are so real i have to convince myself its just a dream.

Don't forget Thujone can increase dream imagery. That means mugwort, rosemary, wormwood, and sage. Mugwort is in the same genus as wormwood, and although i have no evidence i read on some other forum it contains more thujone than wormwood. Sage essential oil contains as much as 30% thujone. Anyway, mugwort's a common dream herb. The book isnt in on thujone toxicity but its not the end of the world, youd probably live.

Calea and silene had no noticable effect, but kirkii is great.

Not for me, but increases mood upon waking. This might have been given the wrong impression of a more restful sleep.

I found kirkki and SC to work great, especially if you take few 100's of mg first thing in the morning for a few days, so the actives have time to buid up.
Calea, I never could do it more than once in a wild but hace been worn off by its repulsive bitterness. Now the enhanced leaves are fine for my changa blends.
I believe all Dreamherbs, bulbs and roots are working together. Some are very good as a mixture.
Harmaline and amanita muscaria and pantherinas are very nice for this purpose too as well as datura inoxia microdose.
Smell like tea n,n spirit !

Toke the toke, and walk the walk !
