This someone I know has been smoking dmt for quite a decent time, has had many breakthroughs and so many wonderful experiences; but he always smoked through home-made stuff, starting from a lightbulb and creating then another little glass device. He would directly put the flame from a lighter about 1cm or sometimes less under the glass and vaporize his stuff. This always works great until a dark brown layers forms on the glass after several times.

The layer is darker and less liquid than melted dmt, if heated it becomes a little more gluey and then releases a thin smoke which tastes like shit, burns the mouth (more like a soft chemical burn than simple hot smoke) and is practically non-active.

He has never smoked pure white stuff, he had some decently white stuff that left less of this nasty layer, and he's now smoking yellow dmt which seems to release more of that (but still, he could be heating it a little bit differently)

What do you think of this brownish bad guy? Could it be burnt dmt? (he never tasted what would certainly be burnt spice, so he doesn't know) Or could it be the remains from his impure spice?
In your experience, could it burn partially so that you notice what you've done only after several times? And if so, keeping the lighter away could solve the problem?

He's planning to recrystallize, hoping that it works well in cleaning the dmt. Right now, he cleaned the bottom of his glass (no need for scraping, heating the brown shit and using a piece of paper works well) so that he can still smoke well.

Any suggestion and comment is welcomed, thank you for your time and sorry for my flawed english Smile this is my first thread but i already love this forum

To me it sounds like its a combination of burned DMT and oils. Clean DMT will vape to leave very little or nothing behind.

If you do go on with using this device, get a torch lighter, its much better at controling the heat thats vaping the DMT.

Or you could bin the bulb like device and get a bong, or if you have a few extra $$$ laying around get a VG/GVG.
Another good way of smoking DMT is in the form of Changa/enhanced leaf, almost too easy..... smoke moar Changa.

Take a read through this link in the FAQ for more info on some smoking tek's.

Yeah, that's burnt spice and oils and will really mess up your smoke. Clean it if you are going to continue to use your vaporizer thing.

I highly suggest using a different smoking method.

Changa is great stuff and easy to make. I'm a changa convert.

The Machine also is popular...but for me, the best, easiest method is a bong or pipe with some leaf (any pleasant smoking leaf will work) or changa.

thanks for the quick replies... I've always had some concerns about losing good vapor in between hits using a bong, and i fear the spice could burn just as well because the herbs would not provide a good protection, but my friend is gonna try it maybe with changa and he's getting a torch lighter too

Ya I had the same problem when first using spice. The brown globb from hell is nasty. Im fairly certain it was mainly burnt spice and a tiny amount of plant oils. Swim started making changa and is now good to go.

Ps. Clean the pipe you use every few sessions. I've noticed a resin build up with similarities to this brown nastiness. Very harsh is usually a sign its time to clean your pipe.

I have this junk completely covering the copper brillo in my "crack pipe". It seems to be at least a little bit active, so I don't mind it build up because it allow each mg of spice to go a little bit farther with the help of some vaped gunk. If it starts to interfere with the pull I might get new brillo but I kind of like the brown-black gunk.

But that gunk is stopping the DMT from vaping efficiently. As the DMT melts it gets traped amongst the gunk, making it more difficult to vape evenly IMO.

Swim did a lot of experimenting with bulb-like devices and has found that they are not very efficient and prone to build-up of nasty residue. So, as mentioned above a machine, a small bong or GVG would work better.

In swim's experience choice of heat source is the most important factor. Try a heat gun. A good one allows you to control the temp of hot air it produces. You can set this temp below the spice flash point and you would not be able to overheat or ignite it. With a heat gun almost any device will produce smooth vapor. Swim tried it with the machine, bongs and various glass pipes, but not with bulbs. Swim's favorite is a small palm-size dry glass bong. It is equally good for straight spice or changa.
