they dont look like libs mate.. its a common mistake. look for the nipple.

myself and buster from the nexus went camping at the weekend into the hills and found a couple tiny but perfect caps... so they are out.

I got a feeling this could be a bumper year!

woohoo!

At first when i saw these pics, i was like "you lucky son of a gun!" but upon reading posts from others above, i too doubt these are libs. like camakazi said, look for the nipple.
Also, i can't quite tell from these low resolution pics, but i don't see a blue bruise towards the base of the stem, from which they were plucked

I was unsure if they were liberties also but im pretty sure they are. most of them but not all of them have a definite nipple on the top, their stems wrap around your finger and dont break and they have bruised stems, the bruising isn't really blue though its more a brown bruising.

If they aren't magic does anyone have any idea what they are? The pictures are a rubbish 1 mega pixel camera in low light so its hard to see them i know.

I am absolutely sure that's not Psilocybe semilanceata, it looks like the inactive Psilocybe coprophila. Psilocybe semilanceata has distinct nipples (I love to play with the nipples of the mushroom goddess) and has different stem and cap apparency. You should really know what you are doing before picking mushrooms my man! Smile

Very many mushrooms have nipples. None of the depicted mushrooms are Psilocybe semilanceata. They have much more distinct nipples and a much more pointed hat - look at pictures on the net. The bruising is always dark blue to violet, never brown. Very many inactive mushrooms bruise brown.

they look too rounded to me, also a little large.. especially for this time of year, but its tricky to tell from the pictures.

heres a few tips for all you shroomers out this season. I always grow a thumb nail to go picking so I can break the mushroom off at the stem as opposed to pulling it right out the dirt... this stops the living underground organism from being damaged and you'll welcome it in the following years.
another is to give the cap a little flick with the finger before picking... this releases any spores that are ready to come out, again.. it all pays off if you want to ensure many fruitful years of picking from your secret little patch.

oh tiz the season to be jolly Pleased
happy shrooming folks!

Nope, they don't. The mushrooms on the picture you linked to have a more distinctive nipple. Take note that that picture really isn't fair to P. semilanceata, as they usually have even more distinctive nipples.

I'm sorry my man, but seriously, you don't have liberty caps!

I found four last week outside my mums house in Glasgow so their defo out, went looking today but no joy going to go again tomorrow. Im not from this area, near paisley, its my gf's flat but im surrounded by fields an ive hardly found any out this way Rolling eyes

They definitely aren't the ones you mentioned evening glory, these were picked from a short green grassy area which has produced shrooms for as long as i can remember. Ive took shrooms that looked like this before and they were major hallucinogenic with no purging or badness.

I'am still a bit concerned though so i wont be taking them, i'll try and see if i can get some perfectly formed libs.

they seem to prefer sheep fields imo... its mostly just cow fields about here in paisley and the surrounding areas, dosn't mean they're not there though, just keep having a swatch every now n then. It is still a bit early though.

You know, I picked the first liberty caps 4th of august this year, and currently it is incredible amounts... At one of my spots I can literally pick the whole day and continue on picking the whole next day. I can't even begin to imagine how much it will be in late september. This is going to be a great winter! Very happy
