Why is swims extraction an oily orange goo? swim has seen similar goo on other people's posts and tried dissolving it in warm naptha as instructed hoping for a brown layer at the bottom, however, it just turns the naptha straight back into a urine colour. I used the STB tek with a.maidenii, any suggestions on how to crystallise?

Instructions for recrystalizations are in the FAQ

Maybe you used too much naphtha to redissolve the goo and thats why there was no bottom dark layer. If you do this again, use less naphtha, just add the warm naphtha very slowly to the goo to dissolve the goods but keeping the bottom layer.

By the way, had you evaporated or freeze-precipitated your naphtha to get your orange oil? In any case, now you could try freeze-precipitating your naphtha and see what comes off from it.

Another possibility (which would also explain why your extraction result is orange goo) is that your naphtha is not only aliphatic hydrocarbons as it should be (i.e. mix of hexane/heptane etc) but also it might have some aromatics (like xylene), which would mean it pulls more plant oils (and potentially other alkaloids) and not just dmt, thats why its not crystalizing. If this is the case, its possible freeze-precipitating wont work well because dmt is too soluble in aromatics even in freeze temperatures... but try it out and let us know

mmm well now that you mention it SWIM was quite generous with the naphtha, will be more careful next time. It has been in the freezer overnight with no changeConfused SWIM had evaporated to be left with the oil but feels that he has done everything by the book so he can only assume the problem lies with the products being used. Will try a different solvent today and compare, cheers

also it had a brand new plastic smell which he read somewhere is a trait of tryptamines, is this true?

yeah it can be a sign of tryptamines.. maybe the acacia you extract from has much dmt n-oxide which is an oil that wont crystalize..

instead of straight away getting a different solvent, why dont you do as I said and search for an MSDS of the solvent you have to see if it has details on what are the exact contents of it? Also before getting a new solvent, read properly the labels and also search for the MSDS (google MSDS + name and brand of solvent, for example "MSDS merck naphtha" ), and see if its good one, dont just buy things randomly as it may be a waste of money.

By the way, you said 'its been in the freezer overnight'.. What has been in the freezer, the oil, or did you redissovle in naphtha before? and if your redissolved, was it a minimum amount of it? because if you put the oil in the freezer or if you redissolved in too much naphtha, it wont crystalize.. Have it dissolved in a very small amount of warm solvent, just enough to dissolve most of the goo, leaving some darker impurities behind. Then freeze.

in the last case, if you cant get it to crystalize, what you can do is, weigh a small amount of herbs, dissolve the goo in pure non-denatured acetone/IPA/alcohol, and let it evap onto the herbs.. After they are dry, weigh the herbs to find how much product you have.... and you can smoke these herbs.

i dissolved the oil into 100ml , let it evaporate for a couple of hours and stuck it in the freezer. no crystals.
i did the search and it turns out the naphtha im using contains n-hexane 10-30% ethylbenzene <10% and 0.1% benzene so i think i might just find a better suited solvent and start again thanks for the advice

is ethylbenzene really that bad? because i just found out SWIMs Xylene is 10-30% ethylbenzene

Kratom was used for physical labor in Thailand prior to its illegal classification. Consuming Kratom lowers body temperature by approximately a degree, increases melanin production in the skin—providing more sun protection, and it is energizing both mentally and physically. It is also used to treat diarrhea, normalize blood sugar in diabetes, normalize blood pressure and battle intestinal parasites.
