I'm going to be in 8000 feet to 11000 feet for the next week backpacking. I'm thinking about taking some acid and a few capsules of dmt. I'm not planning on eating pharmahuasca so I was wondering if blasting off (smoking) is going to be any different up in the mountains?

Hmm this could be interesting, only thing I can think of is to be sure to acclimate before dropping the acid and/or blasting off. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

To clarify I'm probably at sea level right now and I'm going to be spending a week in 8000-11000 feet high conditions.

...in which case you'll definitely want to acclimate for a few days; hopefully you're already doing cardiovascular workouts because that will be a big difference in oxygen concentrations.

If it helps, I was at altitude once (15,000ft) for a couple of weeks and it felt like a really bad hangover from about 6000ft onwards. Constant headache, constantly felt sick, night and day. As soon as I started to descend after the trip, the pain went away completely and I felt like I had double the stamina I would at sea level and felt great.
The trees spoke to me through the wind. The more I listened, the more they spoke.

acclimate, acclimate, acclimate. Sea level to even 8000' same day - which can be done easily in a car - puts big load on digestive and other systems. Having done it wrong once in my life and spent a very uncomfortable night outside my tent treating the bears to the remants of what was supposed to be a gentle dinner - I'd take two days to adjust.
WHOA!

Oh yes another note; a friend once described what it was like being at a research facility at 19,000 feet in the Andes; he said that he could not count to 5, he felt so stupid. And this friend was an established astronomer/programmer, very intelligent. Surely after you acclimate the resulting experiences will be profound to say the least!

You will be fine IF you properly acclimatize for a few days and are in a relaxed situation. If those parameters are not met, I would hold off. If you are arriving from sea level, you will certainly experience some altitude sickness at first. The mountains are indeed a fabulous place for careful psychedelic experimentation. Mountains are also deadly serious, and rather unforgiving of bad judgment.

regardless of smoking spice, please do acclimatize, you risk serious health problems if you dont. Thats just common sense....

As for smoking spice, I have no idea if it will be any difference. My guess is it wont, or it will be very different just like any launch is very different from the other.. but then again, im curious on the results.

But please, be safe... Obviously dont smoke next to cliffs or anything either
