I had this idea come to me over the weekend, and it made sense to me...

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will be the trigger that shifts the consciousness of the planet. We are on the verge of an ecolocial disaster on a scale hardly imagineable. If they cannnot stop it soon, the shorelines of the gulf, and all the way up the eastern seaboard will be covered with oil. Imagine hundreds, if not thousands of miles of coastline covered with oil, death of wildlife the the destruction of environements for years if not decades.

Fossil fuels are on the way out, and will happen far faster now than if this spill had not happened.. This will push the US at least to make a major concerted effort to get off fossil fuels, and most likely everyone else as well. It is going to make us look at ourselves, and contemplate truly what kind of planet we want to live on. Millions of people could lose their livelihood, and be thrown into the ranks of the unemployed. Food prices will soar, gas prices will soar.

The world will never be the same again, and hopefully we can create something better. No more lies, no more deciet, no more raping the earth in the name of profits. The veil will be lifted, and we will see what we have been blind to for so long.

Start thinking about the world you want to live in. Does it include free energy? Does it include Oil? Does it include secert govenment projects? Does it include technology being kept for the elite rather than being used by everyone? What kind of world to you want to live on? Do you want to continue being an economic slave, at the mercy of powers beyond your control, or do you want liberty and personal responsibility?

This disaster is providing an opportunity...I suggest we take it.
What, you ask, was the beginning of it all?
And it is this...

I wish I could start an organization where people send in their used oyster mushroom (and the like) mycelium and we volunteer to go out on boats stationing it in as many places as possible.

Would barely make a dent, but hell, it's better than nothing.

This is truly tragic and transformative.

Your right. Problem is taking the first step to do anything about it. Like, you know, what can one person do. It needs to be an organized and concerted push to tell the gov't to give up fossil fuels NOW. Don't make plans for what it will be like 15 years from now, make plans for what it will be like TOMMOROW, and the next day, and the next.

Our politicians have their thumbs up their asses when it comes to getting off oil. Consider the benefits, #1 being no dependence on the middle east. My goodness if that ain't enough reason to get off oil NOW, then there is no hope until we put the right representatives of US in office.

I'm with ya on this, problem is that I've been saying it ever since Obama took office. Saying we need to get off oil NOW.

I'm all for a global shift in conciousness, but I'm more partial to how Terence McKenna sees it coming. As in it will happen so fast that its going to shock the hell out of the majority of the people in the world. And its just going to happen on its own. The concrescence of all human knowledge crammed into the last few seconds before the switch.

We know what psychedelics show us, so I'm inclined to believe we're more prepared for that rapid, simultaneous transformation that is going to occur.

But its going to shock all the nay-sayers.

And when the time comes, we'll be their sitters, help guide them through it.

Here is an article that goes into depth at the magnitude of this devastation:

www.pesn.com/2010/05/02/...ould_kill_Earths_oceans/

Quote:
If we can't cap that hole that oil is going to destroy the oceans of the world. It only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?

Eventually, humanity will wean itself of oil - because it is a primitive technology. But right now the most profitable companies in the world are those that extract and sell oil, and they have great power, which governments bow to.

The reason BP were drilling in the gulf in the first place is that easily available oil is gone; so they have to drill miles under the seabed to extract it. it is running out; and unless something is there to replace it, the world is in for the worst case of cold turkey in human history.

Here is another article in regards to a hyper-absorbent peat moss that can be used to clean up oil spills in water:

The paranoia is in bloom,
The PR, the transmissions, will resume,
They'll try to push drugs to keep us all dumbed down,
And hope that we will never see the truth around,
SO COME ON!

Another promise, another scene,Another package not to keep us trapped in greed,
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds,
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined,
SO COME ON!

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

SO COME ON!

Interchanging mind-control,
Come, let the revolution take its toll,
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye,
You'd see that we should never be afraid to die,

SO COME ON!

Rise up and take the power back,
It's time that the fat cats had a heart attack,
You know that their time's coming to an end,
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend!
SO COME ON!

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

SO COME ON!

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

Interesting coincidence with the movie "Knowing"

The character played by Nicholas Cage learns about the nature of the coded numbers from a news report of an Oil Rig Explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. It was the trigger for his "knowing"

I agree. It is only a matter of time until we break the chains. But you make a great point and one that can not be overlooked. "unless something is there to replace it" EXACTLY! With all the brilliant minds alive today how can we NOT think of a replacement. If I were an oil company I would devote a large sum of my profits to R&D of this new technology. Why? If nothing else, profits. If say, BP, would come up with a new clean energy source that could realistically replace oil and coal they would corner the new market and knock it's competitors out of the water. Not to mention they would be hailed as the company the saved the human race.

All technologies we have today besides oil and coal don't even come close to being able to scratch the surface of the energy required to power the world.

Selling something that could replace oil would be more profitable when we are suffering cold turkey.
If they time it right they would not only be heroes but also make even more money.

Live camera of the spill.

it's so sad man...just look at all that oil!

Did you notice that with the "top kill" effort we are now getting feeds of the actual main leak? That leak coming out of the pipe that has been on all the news, the one they put the "straw" in to suck up the oil, is not the main leak.

So BP says they are getting 5000 barrels a day from the secondary leak, which in itself is spewing at least that amount into the surrounding ocean. But the main leak, the one they have not been showing us has been gushing non-stop this whole time, and is not being accounted for.

Shameful, and disgusting.

Where are the people that can make serious decisions that will help us all, rather than thier bottom line, or political career?

(Since we were talking about new energy sources I thought this pertained)

I heard today that in order to replace a single nuclear power plant you would need:
Wind Turbines covering the same sq miles as the state of Rhode Island (1,214 sq miles)
24 Rhode islands covered in corn fields to produce enough ethanol

Interesting statistics. I bet that is a normal uranium power plant as well.

There is a different type of nuclear power plant using Thorium:

Its building footprint is a fraction of the size of a normal power plant.
There is no chance of a meltdown.
Very little radioactive waste.
Does not produce weapons grade materials
The energy contained in one kilogram of thorium equals 4000 tons of coal, and
Thorium is far more plentiful than uranium.

The only reason for uranium power plants is to get plutonium...

Do you know the footprint? Could it power a city? If so, why not build them in our cities and get rid of the coal. You could even charge electric cars with a little R&D on battery tech (they can do it now obviously but not efficiently)
