I purchased 100g of mugwort yesterday for a few dollars, and brewed a tea with 2.5 grams of it today. I noticed a definite effect - It was a unique kind of mental calmness (though I wasn't physically or emotionally calm). In fact, it's sudden activity made me a bit anxious. I could have gone into a trance and just stared at something, single mindedly. This effect continued for a few hours.
I then looked it up and found this:

Constituents: The volatile oil of mugwort includes thujone, linalool, borneol, and pinene. The herb also contains coumarins, hydroxy-coumarins, lipohilic flavonoids, vulgarin, prunasin, and triterpenes.

It seems that it contains inactives / possible toxins and thujone (this stimulant in Absinthe). Am I missing something? Anyone know more about this plant?

Cheers,
Crisp

I have been haresting this plant from the wild..I have lots of it now..I use it in changa mixes..

It wasnt until 3 nights ago that I actaully drank about a teaspoon full of the dry herb in a tea. It was strange..I had hypnogogia instantly when I got into bed, like as soon as my head hit the pillow..all night I was somewhat restless, only passing into a light state of sleep..but I was also somewhat lucid all ngiht long and dreaming..not really lucid dreams where I had any controll, but I was somewhat aware in a strange way that I was dreaming..and I had some vivid and significant dreams that night..definatily is an active oneirogen..I think I have found the oneirogen I will learn to work with now since its available here in the wild all over..

I will start experimenting with it probly once a week as a tea.
Long live the unwoke.

It would be interesting to compare it to Wormwood to see if it's the thujone that is doing the trick. I haven't tried the tea again - I didn't find it particularely pleasant.

I dont think its the thujone..I drink sage tea, it has more thujone and doesnt seem to make me dream or have hynogogica like that..maybe other alkaloids in the mugwort work synergistically with the thujone to creat that effect.

And yeah..the tea makes me sort of anxious or restless as well..and its somewhat stoning..but for me its worth it so far since it really does work. Im not going to use it all the time anyway so the restless feelings are just the price I will pay I guess.
Long live the unwoke.
