What if you stored DMT in a super strong capsule and buried it in a treasure chest in the ocean and no one touched it for 1,000 years?
It would turn to DMT oxide within the first few years,
then what?

I seriously think it would end up being okay. Maybe someone with more chem. knowledge knows for sure though.
Maybe purge the container with nitrogen or argon or something, so it doesn't even oxidize.

yeah, DMT under an inert gas at low temperature ought to be immortal

Time capsule time!!!!! “Right here and now, one quanta away, there is raging a universe of active intelligence that is transhuman, hyperdimensional, and extremely alien... What is driving religious feeling today is a wish for contact with this other universe.” ― Terence McKenna

Usually ( but not always) the degradation of a chemical is a result of it's reaction to other chemicals around it. Some chemicals are unstable and tend to break down regardless of the presence of other chems. If you were to place it in a gold lined container and use a noble gas then if it is possible for DMT last it should do so. If you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing.

I dont know how many years but I think I remember reading of very very old samples of yopo that had dmt and bufo intact.. I dont know enough about chemistry to answer with certainty but seems to me indeed dmt is very stable under normal conditions (even more if buried in cold/dark/dry place) and will not degrade to anything other than, at most, dmt n-oxide remember to leave a nice instructions letter with it in a bunch of languages

The source for that claim is this article, but I can't find the full version.
