What about all the other alkaloids, mesembrenone, mesembrenol, tortuosamine and possibly more? It would be really interesting to compare a full-alkaloid extract with an extract of almost pure mesembrine.

Any non toxic food grade options with this one?

For food grade you could use d-Limonene as your NPS, base with Sodium Carbonate or Lime (using a semi-dry tek) and salt out with Fumaric or Acetic acid.

Would Iso-Propyl Alcohol work as a substitute to ethanol or not?

By the lack of response I will take it that no one knows, so I will take matters in to my own hands and have a trial extraction on 10g of Kanna tonight.

i recommend using 40% alcohol and just making a tincture..kanna is so damn potent there really is no need to extract pure stuff...haha and you can buy pure mesembrine from some online vendor

I am looking to extract the Mesembrine & other alkaloids for the nose spray stated in making sceletium tortuosum nose spray:

And the pure Mesembrine for the online vendors is quite expensive. Also it does look very suspicious to customs, so complications are fairly likely.

After three pulls with hot ISO, I was left with a Yellow liquid. this was then evaporated in a hot water bath. After evaporation I was left with a green gummy substance. Is this the results other people got with ethanol, or have I extracted something else such as plant tannins?
