If it doesnt have a known cause it usually stems from somewhere in the brain. if i were you i would look into what part of the brain that nerve stems to and see if you have any problems with stuff related to that area.
Best wishes! Its lame when they dont have a cause for you :/
is it cureable at least?

I've had an MRI to eliminate multiple sclerosis.

My MRI is normal and my brain is normal. FWIW, I've used MDMA a few times too. Was nice to hear I had a normal brain haha.

If you want to ask your doctor about naptha specifically, just tell him/her you were doing some painting and used it as a brush cleaner or thinner. I'm sure that they will say the same thing everyone here has been saying, but it wouldn't hurt to hear it from an MD.

SWIM is exposed to organic solvents at work on an almost daily basis (chemical lab). SWIM has no neurological conditions as a result of this exposure which is probably more then most people on this site. So I highly highly doubt being exposed to naptha could induce such a condition. You need major exposure like huffing it or chronic high exposure levels to cause such damage.

Maybe it was the dmt? Why hasn't anyone considered that? It might be possible in some people? Chronic pain can often be psychosomatic maybe dmt induced it somehow? Who knows though.

But yea go to a doctor even if you did drugs there not going to tell on you. All you have to mention is that you occasionally used psychedelics and were curious if that could cause it. Also you could say you were painting and were exposed to solvents like naptha.

VOLCANO:"In Canada it may be easier to disclose such matters to your doctor but in America -- the land of paid insurance, it's not so easy to disclose such matters because they make label you a drug user or something similar."

You're totally right, I sometimes forget how lucky I am to have the Canadian health care system. From the sounds of it though, I don't think you need to worry too much. Or you can always make up a lie as to why you were using naptha if you are still unsure.

Good luck!

I learned something recently that was relavent to this thread and to the OP.

Hexane (one of the main hydrocarbons in naptha) can cause parkinsons disease like symptoms upon high exposure. the good news is that its usually reversable.

Don't breathe fumes!

Hi Burnt!

Sorry to hear of your woes, but may I ask you a few questions?

You say its the V3 division of you trigeminal nerve thats affected; what are your symptoms more specifically? In particular, do you have pain in this area constantly or does it come and go?

If it comes and goes, what sets it off?

Have you ever had shingles on your face?

How would you describe the pain?

Lastly, for now, any: double vision/blurred vision/problems with hearing/balance/swallowing or troubles with your limbs such as weakness/stiffness/tingling?

Its good your MR head is normal and I need the above questions answered before I can establish a likely diagnosis.

And I assure you,Im not playing the amateur doctor here... from waht youve said so far it sounds like trigeminal neuralgia which isnt naphtha-related. A compressive lesion needs excluding and the normal MR has pretty much excluded this.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
