Hi guys Hope You Are all Well. Finally going to try my first extraction and I'm really excited. Been holding onto this ACRB for like 3 years now... quick question about calcium hydroxide. I'm going to go buy some now but the only local supply I can find has some other ingredients. Maybe these are in all of them I'm not sure but could anyone tell me if it is the right product?
It has
calcium hydroxide 85-95%
Magnesium hydroxide 0.5-1.5%
Crystalline silica (quarts) 0.4-0.7%
Aluminum oxide 0-2%
Its a 20kg bag and these seem like impurities that would have to be in the product I'm not sure.
Also, should I freeze/defrost my bark prior to extraction? This Is my first try and I will give you all an update, I am using q21q21's much appreciated tek. Hope you all have a beautiful weekend and life. I love you all thank you so much.

Below is the MSDS of the hydrating lime I have access to.. thanks again

Those are natural mineral impurities which were present in the limestone. Sounds like this is builders' lime? Whatever, they are largely insignificant, non-toxic, and will have minimal impact on the extraction. Just be careful with the lime dust when handling it - you really don't want to inhale it or get it in your eyes! And don't underestimate its ability to attack your skin either. That said, I'm still quite happy to use it in my own kitchen (recovering tannin from acorns, if you were wondering!)

A freeze-thaw cycle or two is desirable if you can do it - it breaks open the cell walls of the plant material, making it easier for the solvent subsequently to penetrate the material and recover the desired alkaloid(s). Which solvent will you be using?

Be sure to share news of your results, best of luck with the extraction - and welcome to the Nexus!

β€œThere is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
