After a dozen trips with Full Spectrum DMT which was described as:

Quote:
our full spectrum DMT contains trace n-methytryptamine and betacarboline that work synergistically to take you places pure n,n,DMT cannot and keep you there a bit longer.

To be safe I had it lab tested and it came back as 90-95% pure:

Quote:
Your sample C expected dmt tested as dmt 90-95%, uncertain match 5-10% by the infrared spectrometer. It tested negative for fentanyl or fentanyl analog with the test strip. The uncertain match in this sample is likely a member of the tryptamine family.

It looks like this:

The pure DMT I have in crystal form is yellow, was also lab tested to identical results, yet looks completely different:

The trip experience is completely different.

My first breakthrough experience with the full spectrum DMT was with a weighted dose of 100mg. I did not completely empty the bubbler's chamber, but since the quartz banger is electronically temperature controlled, I know I did not burn any of it, and vaped it efficiently.

By all accounts I've read, 100mg is a gargantuan number. I've had breakthroughs at a 85mg weighted dose after that, and decided to switch to the Pure DMT.

I tried 50mg of my pure DMT and had a total blackout followed by ego death but zero visual that I could remember. I had my eyes wide open, could recognize the room I was in, but did not know who I was, why I was here, or that I had done DMT moments before.

Yesterday I tried a 30mg dose of pure DMT and had a highly visual trip but no breakthrough.

Now that I know I love DMT and am emotionally invested I'll be doing my own extractions in the future, but since I know what I currently have is legit, I'm struggling to understand the effects of NMT and betacarboline on the trip, and also why my full spectrum feels so much different than the pure DMT even though they have been lab tested to be nearly the same purity.

Any advice/pointer/clarifications would be immensely appreciated.

Cheers.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Beta carbolines tend to alter the effects of DMT. But each beta carboline does it in a different way. Different mixtures of beta carbolines, therefore, have different effects.
So that is why syrian rue has different effects than caapi vine, for instance.

I believe that most people agree that beta carbolines do enhance the mental aspects of the DMT experience, the level of immersion, the psychological effects.

On visual effects, i don't think there is the same level of consensus. Some people say that they enhance visuals but some people say that visuals are diminished.

Because beta carbolines have a very complex pharmacological profile, i think the effects may strongly differ from one person to another. Almost all of them are MAOI's, so in what way they affect you personally may depend on what the baseline levels of the neurotransmitters in question are for you.

The neurotransmitters affected by MAO-a are serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline. MAO-b also breaks down fenethylamine.

But beta carbolines do a lot more than just inhibiting MAO a and/or b. Some of them activate certain receptors, but they can also de-activate some receptors.

NMT is a different thing. I don't think much is known about it's psychedelic effects. Apparently it does not realy have any psychedelic effect on it's own, but it could alter the effects of DMT. Various plants with both DMT as well as NMT in them, do seem to have effects that are slightly different from the effects of just plain DMT.

But then again, this could be the result of a placebo effect.

With beta-carbolines there is less ambiguity, because many of them do have very noticable effects by themselves. Some of them are somewhat sedative in nature, while others are potent stimulants.

Betacarbolines also interact with certain metabolic enzymes - but at 5% or less of even a 100mg dose I doubt that that would have a significant (or even perceptible) impact on the subjective effects. Without knowing exactly which substance it's hard to say more, and even if the identity was certain there's no guarantee that much would be known about it (2-methyltetrahydrobetacarboline, I'm lookin' at you....).

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Welcome to the Nexus!

While as humans we are naturally looking to find patterns and come to conclusions, I find that it not at all accurate to come to conclusions based on a couple of experiences. Over the years, I have smoked from the same batch of DMT in different occasions and have had completely different experiences. If someone had told me they were different batches, I might have concluded batch A has colorful trips, batch B has ego death trips, batch C has funny humorous beings , etc..

Pretty much all DMT samples and DMT-containing plants have traces of 2-MTHBC. There´s an old thread about it where we gathered some info, but the pharmacology of this compound is still unclear. I´d guess it is unlikely to have a significant effect in the trace amounts usually found. Also NMT is very common in DMT-containing plants. It is present in small or trace amounts in Mimosa hostilis (my guess is this is the 5% ´unknown tryptamine´ content of your sample) but higher amounts in Acacia confusa. This is an older thread on it, it does seem to have some psychoactive effects, but at 5% of your total content I´d guess your effects are mostly DMT

Regarding how each of your samples looks different and yet has a different appearance, this is very normal. DMT is polymorphic, and even small amount of impurities can greatly change the appearance of a sample.

I wouldn´t worry much about ´understanding the effects of´ your sample. DMT raises more questions than it answers IME. I think you can go in open minded and trying to make the best of it, but if you decide you aren´t benefiting from it somehow, better avoid it. Trying to fit the experience into boxes might not work (unless you have a hyperdimensional ever-changing box Very happy )

Good luck either way!

Endlessness is right. There is always a difference between one trip and another anyway. And when you expect different effects because your DMT looks different, that will somehow affect your experiences as well.

Thank you, I feel more educated now. Equally fascinating are all the unknown or misunderstood variables.

I will keep exploring!
