Anyway, my question is, are there any extraction teks that go through the process in a video or some medium other than just text? I've been curious about learning a tek, but my brain doesn't like to cooperate with me when it comes to following a written guide

This one was pretty good. It shows what we call an STB (straight to base) tek. The one thing that's not so good in the video is that the dude isn't wearing gloves when he mixes the lye. You definitely should, especially if it's your first time.
