Here is the situation:

Doing a STB extraction for the first time.
I have done A/B twice with success, many years ago.

I let the alkaloidal material sit in the basified solution overnight, and it's time to add the non-polar solvent and stir it up and so on. While stirring, the basified bark solution gets onto the sidewall of the jar, about parallel to where the non-polar solvent will be(when the layers separate)

I'm wondering, won't the basified solution residue on the walls of my container from stirring, end up contaminating my alkaloid saturated solvent??

And also, usually use wooden spoons. They seem to be slightly melting/layers coming off into the basified solution...is there a better alternative? It's probably not the worst considering that will not be pulled by the non polar solvent, the wood debris

The lye is sticking to the walls of your jar perhaps because it made from ordinary soda-lime glass?

You can avoid contamination if you take steps to ensure that none of the base soup comes over with the naphtha. One sensible precaution is to use an extra jar when pipetting off or otherwise separating your naphtha so that any stray drops of base soup that might sneak along can settle out there, and if a lot of base soup has ended up in the settling jar you can even do a quick wash with a small amount of saturated brine. Then a second transfer can be made to the freeze precipitation dish.

Stir with HDPE, stainless steel or glass. Debris from your wooden spoon shouldn't be too much of a worry though; you have presumably been dissolving bark powder in that mixture, after all.

I honestly strongly dislike the use of potentially harmful chemicals in my psychedelic medicine. Of course, when the procedures are performed with the proper care, there is minimal need to worry.

Although I love the quickness and power, the deep insights and general nature of the sacred spice, I do prefer the more "natural" processes used to cultivate mushrooms, and the ability to dose orally without mono amine oxidase inhibition...

That said, the time required, and potential to "psych oneself out" of taking higher doses of longer lived psychedelic medicine, prevents me from approaching mushrooms with the same confidence as I do the sacred spice.

dmt has always been a great ally and friend. so unique each time yet so familiar, and definitely worthwhile to experience...
