...and can sense the operator guiding them?

I have had this feeling from time to time, that the veil is thin, that this body and existence is just a simulation of something much larger and more profound. Sometimes I can sense that "higher self" that is guiding this existence within this reality construct. I become hyper-aware and seem to be looking out of eyes that see so much more than what I can normally percieve. I can sense it in dreams, during meditation, and during Aya journeys. It is the watcher, the Witness of my experiences. I can sometimes communicate, ask questions and answers come...

Having seen Avatar recently for the second time, and also having been a huge fan of MMORPG games for the last 10 years, it occured to me that sometimes life feels very much like one of those two paradigms. There is talk among spiritualists that there is a higher self, a greater aspect that guides us though life, and the movie/genre of games seems the perfect metaphor for what may actually be happening.

Just curious if anyone else has ever experienced this or had thoughts along this line...

Oh i know this on a personal level..that on some level that is all that this is...what that really means i do not know..

I was once a spiritual warrior of light...the way of peace was my way..I kneeled down beside rows of my brothers and sisters..all warriors of the light..all taking this mission upon themselves..we were kneeling in front of our queen..taking our names..our true warrior names..I knew her..I knew WHY she was our queen..why she deserved that title and I knew in that moment that I would follow her till the end..our mission was sacred and our mission was important..I swore my oath to her, for she stood for the devine love found only within the dissilusion into the light..she was pure..she had no hate, she had no fear..I was something more in that place than i can know now..I had memory of such things i cannot currently reach..

Then of course i woke up and realized the ayahuasca was really workingVery happy
Long live the unwoke.

ever considered to be a simulation?

Yeah this idea is interesting, ran across it a few years ago in a book by Paul Davies called The Goldilocks Enigma. If it is possible for a civilization to create an advanced enough simulation, then the odds would be that we ourselves would be living in a simualtion. Since only a handful of capabale civilizations would be able to create a near infinite number of simulations, we are most likely one of those simulations...

Interesting concept, and it could go up and down a spiral into infinity of regression.

Of course. Religion and philosophy from Socrates to Shopenhauer, Vedanta to Bill Hicks all point to this obvious secret. The Matrix and Avatar are two recent examples of the idea finding form, and it thrills us to no end, if only in a subconscious manner.

The idea first occurred to me after seeing the film Fight Club. It took a crisis for the nameless narrator to realise he WAS Tyler Durden. I wondered if I too was like that nameless narrator.

But that is an intellectual understanding. The other week I had a fleeting but profound experience. I've noticed that when crouching while doing weeding, I stand and feel the blood or whatever drain from my brain. I experience an altered state of consciousness. Like I have become free of my body, but then I come rushing back to it. Like the tide suddenly pulling back to reveal the bottom of the ocean.

The other day I got a real good look at the ground of the ocean. I felt an entity standing inside me that I can only liken to Ganesha. Ganesha is just an idol and image though. This being was something entirely beyond description. In that moment I felt the veil lifted, and a kind of twinkling of the eye at how marvelous this human game was. But my human self didn't feel estranged to the Ganesha figure. The human person was the exact likeness of the higher self, just like the Avatars take on the look and characterstics of their human selves.

Something is definitely going on...what it is is damn near impossible to work out. Are these feelings just part of the human psyche? Or are there very very real aliens/sentient beings that are communicating with us? Perhaps both?

All we know is that we are having experiences...explaining those experiences is where we fall flat on our backsides. To be quite honest, in the multiverse of near infinite possibilities...it's best not to worry, and to enjoy the show.

Accept that you are not in control...yet, but be assured that good times are coming soon...have faith, especially in yourself. That appears to be the general message doesn't it?

I feel like the real me is someone I don't know, and that whatever I am is remotely controlling this body which feels like a puppet. I don't like this game of hide and seek, but I'm addicted to it. To know such troubling things is the philosopher's curse...sometimes I wish I were ignorant because then living in such a fucked up society would be bliss.

Yes! The first time I felt this was when I smoked salvia. I felt my mind merge on to a divine "sage-like" self who was watching me and sort of controlling my actions. SWIM also feel dissasociation when he smokes DMT, and these days even while smoking cannabis. Even sober, this thought has occurred to me many times. It is truly strange that so many of us feel this way. Perhaps there is a channel of communication that connects beings existing in multiple dimensions of reality, and we at times feel the connection between them.
This is it. This is what it was. This is what it will be.

Ever thought about the idea that we are all god, who came into existence and evolved into human form to experience itself subjectively... I guess thats a bit Bill Hicks but its kinda what i think may be happening.

But i have felt like im driving this body with another form. I used to get that feeling alot when i was a kid.

I like the idea that the reality we exist in is the only reailty and that all the creatures on the planet are the product of evolution and that we control ourselves.

This is basically what I mean. At times I am the controller of this biological machine, the consciousness that uses this physical form to manuever around the physical world. It is not the Ego, the self construct that is a product of my experiences, but rather something beyond that is vastly more aware and in tune with the Universe.

I understand that I have downloaded my awareness into this biological machine in order to experience all that physicality has to offer, and thus learn. The true self is the Witness of my experiences.

I like this idea too, and for most of my life thought this way. It just doesn't make sense to me anymore, I have had too many experiences that have contradicted this notion. I do agree that we control ourselves, but who is the "I" that controls? Is it simply the Ego, or is it something else?

What I don't understand about the observer behind us all - is that whenever people describe mystical experience, they talk about an egoless state. This non-ego presumably desires nothing, unlike ego robots such as ourselves. So why then does this observer desire to experience physical life? The creator, the cause - it desires. Perhaps desire personified.

Therefore, could 'God' have an ego? Perhaps the egoless void people speak of is the subconsciousness of God, but the ego of God - that which creates and experiences everything, is like us but on an infinite scale?

Looking at your signature Saidin, who or what is this One that experiences sheer delight? Is that the one we sometimes see inside - the one digging every single second of our silly little lives?

Nice questions.

I came to believe in a personal God because

(a) when I met Him/Her/It, I sensed God as a person (the best friend and mentor I have), and

(b) I couldn't reconcile the notion of the Void with the definite "is-ness" of creation. How could well defined forms and governing rules - in general: structure - spring forth from a source that has no qualities?

i think the idea behind avatar movie comes from sykedelik experiences and stuff, for me the characters are very similar to what acid trip gives me... Being aware that you are a creature living in a reality, ofcourse you can feel like that... ur body is ur animal, you are using it like a machine... its all about awareness level... but further than that the characters in movie are very similar to my inner beast vision on very very high dose acid trip, That hair connection thingie also comes as a metaphor of crown chakra i think... its like tentacles on ur head as far as i saw...

The movie was so acidic anyways... and to have that feeling u dont have to watch that movie.. i always had that feeling and when i saw the movie i said yes thats bullseye, a 100 points shot on perception of reality. I always think these are little messages to people like us who are into sykedeliks and awareness... and the rest of the movie is just other little messages for other people... but we mostly dont even get those messages coz they are more primitive messages for us
